Hey guys. I don't post here that much, mainly because I don't always have anything to add that hasn't been said already, but now that i'm 5 weeks out i figured id share some pics etc. Maybe it will help keep me focused on the goal at hand.
A bit of background info:
Im 25
5ft8 on a good day
Been bodybuilding 5 years with a year off last year to persue powerlifting. I won a british title and came 2nd at 3 national level comps then rounded out the year by trashing my shoulder and limping to a 3rd place finish in the world single lifts.
Currently 81kgs and dieting for the British finals (equivalent to the USA's I guess). I'm doing the U80kg intermediates. it's a class for guys who have never competed in a final before.
I realise for 5 weeks i'm behind in my conditioning. I'm currently pulling out all the stops to try and rectify this for the end date. Fingers crossed.
-
A few more.
-
these were taken the week before my qualifier, so ideally I would like to surpass this.
-
Front double bicep and side tricep are both phenomenal. Good work.
-
Great genetic bone structure, mesomorph, wide clavicles, narrow hips, not behind by much on conditioning maybe a week or 2 but could easily make up for it, 5 weeks is still good time, look great, good luck.
-
You look good. Real Good. Stupid tattoo, tho. Keep up the good work, tho. :-\
-
good work mate. just keep at it, be consistant with training/diet/cardio and you will tighten up.don't cut corners and wimp out!
-
great quads, teardrop and quadsweep really stand out!!
-
Very impressive build!
5 weeks can be enough.
Good luck!

Cheers guys for the kind words.
Im doing a double split right now, and 2 cardio session as well ED. Boy am i ever nackered!!
Still, it should hopefully be worth it in the end.
-

-
Pleasant physique to watch, well done.
-
very nice structure and pleasing shape and lines, your right on track for five weeks, dont worry about that ! keep on with the keepin' on bro!
-
Thanks for the encouragement guys, i'm sure those of you who have competed know how much of a boost a simple positive comment can make. Keeps you going on the bad days.
As of today i'm 4 weeks out.
Booked my hotel for the contest so thats one less thing to worry about now. did about 9-10 miles on my bike today for AM cardio. It's amazing how fit you get precontest, i was struggling to do 5 miles when i started!

very true about how fit you get, in the beginning walking on a treadmill at 3.5 my heart rate would be 120 easily. By the end (about 16weeks later ) walking at 3.5 would barely warm me up

Great structure and lines, pleasing look...
-
very good job!!
if u dont mind...what kind of diet do u follow?
-

Well i start off with moderate protien, high'ish carbs and moderate fats.
As the diet progresses i lower the fats and carbs.
Right now im on zero fat for 4 days of the week and about 40g on the other 3 days. Carbs are now cycled
-
very good structure. if it wasn't for that english channel chest gap, you would hit 10s on the symmetry.
but carry on, it's not an impediment.
-
It's been said already, but "good structure" were the first words that popped into my head when looking at your 5 weeks pics. Your other pics are great also! Have a great show.
5ft8 on a good day
;D
-
Very aestetic look, I think you are right on for 5 weeks out.

FIRST OF ALL, the British is not the same is the USA!!!!!!!
You look descent, but your genetics suck!!! I've seen people work out for less the 5 years and look a million times better then you. If you are doing this as a hobby all the power to you but if you have aspirations of becoming a successful pro you have no chance.

Well to address your two points.
How can the British not be classed as the same as the USA? Both are the national championships with the winner recieving their IFBB pro card. I seem to remember a certian guy winning the British then winning a few Olympias, name escapes me though....
My genetics are what they are, if i could change them id be 6ft 5 and trying to make it as a pro wrestler ;D But I can't, so I work with what I have. Congratulations on seeing people with better genetics than me, who have done more in a shorter time. No matter how good you are there is always someone better.
Just have to do the best with what you have.
Pics updated tomorrow.

Update:
Day 3 of low carbs on my carb cycle. Crashed really hard just before i was going to train. Got really dizzy and it felt like someone was stabbing me in my ribs and it was coming out the other side. Ended up having to sit down, i could feel an area in my back begin to tighten up. It hurt more during each breath. I drank a carb drink and eventually the discomfort died down as my blood sugar levels came back up. Never had anything like this before. had me a little worried for a minute!

What age did you start lifting weights? How long have you trained for competitive bodybuilding?
-
I started training at 19 when i was at university (2002). Did a contest in 2005, another in 2006 then took 2007 off from bodybuilding.

The difference between the British and the USA Open is not the availability of pro cards it's of the quality of BB. A 6th placed American BB could enter the British and win, that is what I meant. Yes you guy's did produce one good BB Dorian Yates who won 6 sandows 3 of which he deserved.
-
Ok here are a few updated shots from about 3.5 weeks out.
-
one more
-
Good work man. How much have you dropped since the last pics? 1.5kg?

Natural or otherwise... and, I realize that bodyweight can be overrated, as the mirror is most important...but what would be around the highest ideal bodyweight that would be like to show up on stage at a bodybuilding show?

If you mean how much can i weigh, then 80kgs or 176lbs is the limit. I'm 80.4kgs. I think i need to lose another 3 kilos (6.6 lbs) minumum. probably a lot more.
-
what are your goals? natural pro? ifbb pro?
good luck with the contest!

Im just focusing on the Finals right now. Ideally i'd just like to look the best I ever have. Then i know regardless of anything else i busted my balls and diddn't waste my life since feb, prepping for a show to half-ass it. A high placing finish would be nice too ;D
-
Ok I had to take these with my Camera phone. The lighting is much better than in my kitchen. I didn't intentionally cut off my calves, there was just limited amount of room. I'm not hiding them in my other photo's. ;)
Hope to get the mandatories up in the next few days.
-
Excellent progress last few weeks. Good luck with your show..good overall shape and proportion.
-
Alot of improvment in very short time! looks like you're not 'behind' anymore.

how low were your carbs when u got sick? seems serious...

Yeah, these new pics show your conditionally way better than the previous ones.

My carbs were at about 150g. I was having to do alot of physical activity I wouldn't usually have done. I had only recently cut my carbs that low and I guess my body wasn't used to it. Hence I got a bit woozy etc.
-
Looking fantastic, great wheels! :)
Good luck for the show! 8)

Thanks mate. If i can make more improvements like in the last 2 weeks then I should be very happy with my final condition.
Everything is getting pretty hard though (not that it wasn't already).
Almost cried earlier when i spilt about 1/3 of one of tomorrows meals on the floor. :'(

same as me pretty much, i'm on 100-150g off-on days, i haven't got sick like that now, but i'm not very active outside cardio/gym.
In the past when i've done lowcarb and gone a long time without a high day, i have crashed and got sick, but haven't had a stabbing pain like you describe. The high day makes it so much easier, but the last couple of days of the 6 day low carb cycle are pretty brutal.

10 days out and i'm depleted as hell!!! Waist is down to 27 1/4" now. It has never been that small in any diet I have ever done!
-
Just became bodybuilder of the week on BB.com, which was nice ;D

I must say you really picked up the paste lately, but i am not surprised, bodybuilders are fearless, good luck.

You forgot the 3/4 ;)
My wrists are only 6 3/4" in circumference, my ankles barely 8". I have a very light bone structure.

Good job; GREAT attitude!
-
VERY aesthetic. beautiful shape man. i honestly think with time and quality size you could be a very good pro.
-
Great structure man. The legs look really good also. I think you have major potential if you can add some overall size.
-
Great look, awesome structure for bodybuilding, just curious you freely admit that you need overall size, actually we all do ;D, but do you feel that condition can improve or do you feel you took it as far as your body was willing to accept? afterall you were shredded.
-
Awesome quads and hams, you look great bro. Keep up the hard work, it's paying off. Good luck at your contest. :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Will give me more fuel to hit the gym even harder this year.
You can always be more shredded!! It was the best condition I have ever been in, but I think I could have been even sharper. In all honesty i think it's wether or not I can maintain my mental focus. After all, where the mind leads the body follows.
-
amazing physique
well done
