Was just sitting on my bed browsing getbig and have my pup chilling on my bed with me and I realized, I actually feel a tremendous amount of love for this animal. It's somewhat weird. I have another border collie and love him as well, but something about having been around the pup since she was 5 weeks old, it's like I have really gotten attached to her...
You guys have any pets you love and aren't too pussy to talk about it? Real men have emotions, and will talk about them (with total strangers on the internet).
I also had a shot of makers mark, and am feeling pretty good! First real drink in 6 weeks. I feel great, and love my dogs.

most homeless people have some sort of pet (usually a dog), they use it to re-humanize themselves. By taking care of a pet or another living thing, they feel more "human"
I think that applies to a lot of people.

The last dog I owned was when I was in 6Th to 7Th grade,...was a Chihuahua/pug mixed breed,...I really liked...no loved her,...and one day she disappeared. Fast forward to a few years ago...My Mother confessed to me very matter of factly that one day when I had the flu in the 7Th grade and confined to bed,... Dad had taken that dog and dumped it some where.
This story sealed it for me, I will never have another pet.

interesting thread as me and my brother were just talking about this the other day. my dogs are like my children. to do something to them, would be the equivalent of hurting a man's child. it wouldn't end well. sometimes I think it is probably a sort of weakness, the lengths that I would go to, to take care of and protect my animals, but that's just how I feel.

I am a true believer that she sleeps 20 hours a day. ;) I bought her her own flat screen, own "Dog Bed", her "Own Couch", pillows,...etc. 8) When i die, i better get a owner like my ass. 8) I ain't afraid to tell it the way it is, but when at work, school, gym,...etc. I call the house and let the answering machine pick up to let her know that i am coming home or else she will get into stuff. :-\ I caught her the other day on my table eating my damn Wendy's Salad and four Spicey Chicken Wraps. :'( :'( Then she just looked at me while she did not do anything....ahhhh

There is a lot to be said for the "unconditional love" of a good dog. Always there for you. Never turns his back. Very close when you are feeling down or blue. Comforts you, sleeps on the bed, looks you in the eye and knows if you are hurting and (unlike a woman) - actually cares.
Nobody, nothing, nada fits that criteria except for the Good Lord above... think about it.

But why? I lost my dogs before, but i took them from a bad spot and put them in one where they had the best of everything. ;) I kinda always see my dogs as looking down on me and knowing that i will treat my "Dog/s" like i did them. I would adopt every dog if i could, but i cannot. My dogs have always been a part of my family and any other dog i have will always be treated like a king. :)

It always hurts, but you can rescue another doggie and make he/she part of your family. :) I seem to find people who always wanna give away a doggie and i have to take one. :) Dogs are family members and make your life much better.

These two get treated like royalty. I miss them alot they're at my parents house. They follow my mom around everywhere to keep an eye on her very protective. My mom goes to the restraunt by herself late at night and she will usually take the male. You wouldn't want to make him angry :)
They're the kindest dogs we have ever owned. You can pick them up by the hind legs and pull them away from their food dish and they will not growl at you.

He had a habit of getting a little underfoot back then but he really nailed it that day. You couldn't have planned it better.
Not laughing and keeping the job was the hardest part.

Your house has a wonderful patina,...do you rent, or are you lucky enough to own?...My first residence that I rented away from my parents had a similar patina,...It was a duplex in a district in Houston Texas called "The Heights",...and it was the most comfortable residence I ever lived in.
I live with my parents again :), i lived out of house for a while but couldn't afford it with me going back full time to school (just turned 24) , even while working... I took my dog with me, but we had to live in back with my mom, lol. I don't mind though i'll be done with school in 2 years.
And i do not know what patina means, but i do know we have a shitty floor. ;D

Oh The floor is not shitty,...it's very handsome...Patina in this case means that the object in question is antique in how it looks,... high quality and handsome....Patina if you look it up usually means the weathering on bronze statues...but is also a word used by fans of antique objects.

It might be patina or some other term that makes a shitty floor seem better :D , but you gotta admit this is pretty shitty.
