One of the problems with this strategy is what kind of Iraqi are we going to entrust to bringing order to Iraq.  There are competing factions with a multitude of agenda's.  At my worst moments i think its best to let them fight it to the death and let Crom sort them out. 

On a side note, I think it is hard to argue at this point that Bush is a good president.  Regardless of whether or not you think radical Islam is a major problem, which I believe it is( in my estimation radical religion is inherently dangerous regardless of what religion it is), his strategy for combating terrorism and radicalism was poorly devised and haphazardly executed. 

he'll be remembered by the history books as the president who

- established a longterm presence in the mid east
- established US oil pipes across the mid east, in US dollars
- bravely fought islamist extremism.

Kids history books will ignore all the stuff about oetting 911 happen and the sunni/shiite mess, and just talk about it like we talk about FDR bravely responding to Pearl harbor.  

Grownup history books will talk about it for centuries.

Having a clear, definitive plan, from early on, and seeing it through, no matter what the circumstances.

If it is what the individual REALLY wants, then they will see their goals through the rough spots of life.

They will not buy more house than they can afford

They will not piss their money away on gambling, cigarettes, and vanilla Starbucks Lattes

They will attend to their civic responsibilities
