Post by: old-school-lifter on September 20, 2015, 11:59:46 PM
BB has so badly regressed since ROnnie's last Olympia win 2005

since then its just smoother, glazed donuts

will BB ever return to the high standard of the 90's?

choosing him as Mr. Olympia in the first place was a sign of regression.  Neither Dorian nor Ronnie were ever the most aesthetic guys on stage.

Bodybuilding has always been about pushing the envelope.

Bigger muscles, lower bodyfat/water levels, and smaller posing trunks.

The one who pushes it the most without dying for us bitches takes home the plastic trophy.

Then why is Phil winning?

I have no idea....could be he puts in "the work" more often than others....just enough to edge out "the sexual predator" who as we know has done all kinds of "work"

Yes the pinnacle right here , mass , conditioning , aesthetics , he had it all Ronnie gave birth to a new era in size and conditioning , he's like Frank Zane at 257lbs

When I look at bodybuilding, I don't look at one single competitor to determine what era was better. Were there guts in the early-mid 2000's and 90s? Yes. The question is: from an OVERALL perspective, which era has the most guts. Its quite clear that in today's time, the amount of pros with guts is clearly much more when compared to back in the day.

The pinnacle of bodybuilding ended in the late 80s.

You even see guys at local shows and non-bodybuilders with some serious gut issues now because everyone is venturing into GH and slin before they've built any base natural or even with AAS

I liked Ronnie better in '97-'98.

That said, the '99 O has to be one of the best lineups of all time.

Ronnie's place in history is secure, and he deserves it. But he succumbed to insulin and HGH like the rest of them, and the resulting distension was the same. Imagine if Ronnie stuck to a more traditional drug regimen and just continued to refine his physique while keeping his waist small.

If he stuck to traditional drugs he wouldn't have won anything. He pushed the envelope and was rewarded. Double edged sword

No shit. But i can distinguish between the ones that are related to bodybuilding and the ones that aren't. I've seen more competitors in person than you as well

Only an idiot wouldn't realize that in the mid 90's people felt the 70's and early 80's were the best, this cycle will continue on forever
