Fox News host, whose stories of past reporting exploits are under renewed scrutiny, claimed ‘we were attacked by protesters’ when covering the 1992 riots

Former colleagues of Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News host whose tales of past reporting exploits are facing renewed scrutiny, have disputed his account of surviving a bombardment of bricks and rocks while covering the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.

Six people who covered the riots with O’Reilly in California for Inside Edition told the Guardian they did not recall an incident in which, as O’Reilly has claimed, “concrete was raining down on us” and “we were attacked by protesters”.

Several members of the team suggested that O’Reilly may instead be overstating a fracas involving one disgruntled Los Angeles resident, who smashed one of their cameras with a piece of rubble.

Well at this point, O'Lielly's "everything I've got" that he is going to come after people with is getting quite diluted by the number of people he's going to "get".

I don't watch O'Reilly but I just might for his reaction. You have to admit thIs is a concerted effort to single out a ring winger after Williams fall from grace. It's not being done in the spirit of journalistic inquiry but out of personal malice.

This is so stupid......this is another he said/she said perception thing. The one issue is the suicide story. He was either there or he wasnt. Thats a straight up lie on one side or the other. Fox won't back him if he lied on that.

I acknowledge that point but many others did as well and more severely. As far as I can tell he's the only one being singled out. It's gotten to the point where the journalists attacking O'Reilly have spent more time and effort on him than they did on Williams-if they did at all. It's petty partisanship.

many of Oreilly's lies were made in the 2000s. Some in 2008 and in later books.
