It also time for those of us on Medicare and who purchase supplemental healthcare insurance plans to help cover what Medicare does not to consider the value of our expense. The supplemental my wife and I purchase is going up a little over $20 a month to $178. We pay this in addition to the $100 per month we each pay for Medicare putting our health insurance coverage at nearly $300 a month each. The co-insurance, co-pays and deductibles are higher then what they were when our healthcare insurance was provided through our employer.
This has little (as far as I know) to do with Obamacare. But I thought it might interest you all to know seniors are not getting a free ride when it comes to healthcare insurance. I will probably switch to a less rich supplemental health insurance plan, which will result in higher out of pocket expenses but will lower the premiums by more than a $118 a month each.
