I can understand their use, *maybe*, during heavy sets of deadlifts or bent rows.  Aside from that, unless your hands get excessively sweaty during a workout and you need them just to keep from slipping, gloves are a waste of cash.

i use them when i do presses cause i go super wide and it puts a lot of strain on my wrists, i have the ones that have wrist supports but i also have just wrist supports, usually either one is sufficient,
