It has become a contest of who can handle the most shit without their insides turning to butter.
Let me add a little something to that....
what happens (damage) to the body...
its not a question of "if" it's a question of how long
A very famous bodybuilder who died not too long ago before the age of 50 (in my hometown) said that the bodybuilders of today will be feeling like death warmed over by 40... or sooner
Play today
Pay tomorrow
Younger guys, unless extremely intelligent (by listening to those who have been there) will be experiencing more issues than just organ damage
Steroids affect your mentality... your brain...
All the guys that I know that were competing professionally and doing a quarter of the shit these guys are doing today are frickin Looney Toonz today... psycho... bipolar... trippin all the time... paranoid... something is out of whack. They are not "normal" by any means.. which I realize is a word that really does not fit anyone today
By which standards can one be "normal?"
Well, you gotta define "normal"
which is impossible
If I had to make a prediction about the future of professional bodybuilding... my guess would be that 20 years from now, it won't even exist. Not the 'monster' style anyway.
It's gonna be a Mr. Fitness world.
There will still be drugs. Always. But the size game? Will be history. Ancient history.
You can't expect to walk around like a freak in your 20's and 30's without future repercussions. Risk to Benefit ratio is insane.
Might as well be an MMA fighter. That probably won't exist anymore either.. at least not as we know it today.
People will not be allowed to live dangerously.
