I'd take the health benefits with a grain of salt, but tea in general, is pretty low in everything, it's basically just flavor leaf.
That's actually the polar opposite.
The best green tea is actually as unadulterated as possible. If you've ever witnessed how intricate and deeply revered Japanese tea ceremonies are you'd understand how serious they are about their tea.
IIRC, the tea ceremony in The Karate Kid II was actually pretty accurate from what I've seen with my Japanese exchange students. Green tea and those yummy bean cakes are awesome. But store bought green tea is an awesome choice for staying hydrated.
You usually don't steep the traditional stuff long but I like tossing a few tea bags in a pot of boiled water and filling a large jug once it cools. It's not going to cure cancer but it tastes great and the marginal health benefits are way better than plain H2O! It isn't Japanese style in the least but it's the bomb!
