Guess it will be difficult to blame steroids for these deaths, maybe Congress should ban cars and motorcycles as well.

Definitely the worlds most harsh race, even those super trucks get bogged in the sand.

The death toll in these extreme sports is sometime high buut the sponsors keep putting up the bucks and the fans keep watching.

About 12 years ago in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race about a dozen men died, still goes ahead every boxing day and roles is the the name sponsor.

Formula 1 and MotoGP also have a quite high death toll.

I don't know the overall numbers, but the Dakar rallye has 60 deaths in 30 years, i would say this is pretty high.

The mexican Carrera Panamera race only ran for 3 yrs, due to the death toll being so high

The Mexicans have other problems, maybe the race was used by the drug barons??

Formula 1 has tremendously low death toll. According to Wikipedia, Ayrton Senna is the latest driver to die in a crash!

I remember Nobuki Wakai in Spain in '93, Daijiro Kato at Suzuka in '03 and Shoya Tomizawa at San Marino last year (in the Moto2 support race).

Yes.

Sorry, so it's actually quite low.

Maybe it stuck in my head because i used to watch these regularly and so the death in F1 and MotoGP struck me much more than some Dakar biker who i think is nuts anyways.
