Title: Mitsuru Okabe says good bye
Post by: chris faildo on July 18, 2008, 10:09:06 PM
Just got a sad e-mail from Mitsuru Okabe that he will no longer be shooting DVD's. He is calling it quits.  It was an honor for me to have been his last one he shot.www.cfaildo.com  Mits is a very hard worker and i wish him the best of luck with his new journey. I had a blast with him in Hawaii during our shoot.  I will cherish my DVD knowing he was the one who put it all together. Thanks Mits for everything!

What? Why?

Mits has been around, and always has the most respect out there from many. He is reknown for his special style and wearing 'hockey' pads on his knees for protection.

From Jay Cutler, to Battle to the Olympia, to many more, I have at least 15 of his DVDs.

I can understand why. Not too many charasmatic bodybuilders around anymore. Maybe the new guard of pros coming up can keep the BFTO legacy alive.

Exactly. Painfull86 aka "Pain" was a master editor and made amazing videos using Mits' footage. Unfortunately, Mits threatened to sue him if he didn't stop making the preview videos. Stupid thing was, those preview videos probably sold more tapes for Mits than anything else  :-\

He did exactly what was needed follow around some guys tape some training tape some of their personal lives ask a question here and there.

Mits is an amateur, the guy knows nothng about good editing, sound mixing etc.
He used to do it(edit sound effect...etc), but he began to realize that the fan want DVD which are very real and no effect and mixing at all.
I personally think that  the best part of his DVD is this simplicity.
No sound effect, no special editing at all.

who the hell buys bbing dvds for production values?

the minimal editing is ideal for TRUE FANS because how a bber acts between sets gives greater insight to who they are, like Jay's quiet stares or Darrem's easy going attitude and self deprecating humour

Mits was a visionary
