A guy doesn't post for a few days, and people think he is dead, in jail, or become a male prostitute :D
What I would like to tell Getbig, is that I will no longer be modding the MMA subforum nor updating the history thread.
Bottom line, is that I feel all mods should have access to the mod's only section. So Ron can trust someone to run a subforum, but not to have access to a section called "The mod board"? I have been told in the past, that the reason why only (7-8) people have access, is because of trust issues with some of the former mods. If you can't/don't trust someone, don't make them a mod in the first place.
So last weekend, I asked if I could have access to the mod board. I was told "Its not going to happen" and that "There are many mods that don't have access". That is why I have no problem giving up my mod spot on the MMA board. I see no use in being a fake moderator. What is the purpose of a moderator forum, if the majority of the mods on Getbig are locked out of it? In my opinion, all of the mods should be involved in the meetings and group discussions, and if you do not trust them to do that, then they shouldn't be mods in the first place.
No hard feelings, I just do not want to waste my time. Thanks for the opportunity regardless.

Maybe they made the right call not to allow access to someone who can't be bothered to moderate without the unnecessary perks.

To gain access to the mod board, where I thought I could be part of some of the decisions, discussions, and improvements to help make the board I have been visiting for 10+ years, a better place.
Also, the goal was to become a mod on the General topics or the G&O.
You obviously have to take into account that we are talking about an internet message board. I realize that it doesn't mean shit in the grand scheme of life :D

I agree, but maybe they should think about giving future mods access when they are "chosen" to be mods. In theory, You should have already proven yourself trustworthy for Ron to agree to make you a mod in the first place.
In my case, I got the hint when I was told "that its not going to happen" and that there are many mods who have not had access for years.
So does it really come down to just trust? I think they like the fact that there is a private board with only 7-8 people :D
Besides, they would have to erase a ton of threads complaining about me, before I got there ;D

The actual coaching should be more important than meetings. Unless the coaching is fueled by an ulterior motive.

If gh15 read getbig,he read exactly what we read........I knew nothing of anything going on backstage..........didn`t care really but I have modded on a lot of boards and have always had access to the Private Mod Section except for here.

That said, there's probably a need for a "super-mod" set of permissions that are basically admin-lite that only very trusted, personally-known moderators can enjoy. Maybe like only OMR and Princess.
The only times I've modded boards (gun boards, naturally), I was admin because I was managing the infrastructure as well as DB backups, etc.

There are different levels of trust. I may tell a friend a secret, but then tell a different friend a bigger secret, if I trust the latter friend more. Even in the government, there are different levels of clearance--some government officials know the TOP secrets, and some know minor secrets.
To be honest Shizzo, it makes sense why Ron would not trust you with the mod forum. Based on your past actions, you are not to be trusted in that regard. Be happy with your status as MMA mod, and perhaps sometime in the future, you can work your way up (if you choose to once again mod the MMA forum).

You tell them to de-mod you and un-sticky your history thread. That absolutely comes off as an ultimatum and a childish act. I think you may have had a good chance with just starting a thread asking for others input and opinions. I think you would have had more people on your side and it would be taken more into consideration. But you backed them into a corner with the ultimatum. If they grant you access now they will appear weak.
This is my opinion and telling you this for future reference. Never throw your trump card out at the very start.

Its erroneous to assume that trust is the same on all levels, i.e., just because Ron trusts you with the MMA subforum, he also trust you with the mod section.
There are different levels of trust. I may tell a friend a secret, but then tell a different friend a bigger secret, if I trust the latter friend more. Even in the government, there are different levels of clearance--some government officials know the TOP secrets, and some know minor secrets.
To be honest Shizzo, it makes sense why Ron would not trust you with the mod forum. Based on your past actions, you are not to be trusted in that regard. Be happy with your status as MMA mod, and perhaps sometime in the future, you can work your way up (if you choose to once again mod the MMA forum).
Let's not over look the fact that the instant he doesn't get what he wants he posts it so everyone knows, telltale signs of a trustworthy individual.....

Nah, I specifically stated in my open letter to the mods (posted on the mod board) that it wasn't to be taken as an ultimatum.
I said that if they felt that I wasn't worthy of mod board access, or the possibility for future growth as a mod, that I wouldn't want to be a mod in any capacity.

What I would like to tell Getbig, is that I will no longer be modding the MMA subforum nor updating the history thread.
Bottom line, is that I feel all mods should have access to the mod's only section. So Ron can trust someone to run a subforum, but not to have access to a section called "The mod board"? I have been told in the past, that the reason why only (7-8) people have access, is because of trust issues with some of the former mods. If you can't/don't trust someone, don't make them a mod in the first place.
So last weekend, I asked if I could have access to the mod board. I was told "Its not going to happen" and that "There are many mods that don't have access". That is why I have no problem giving up my mod spot on the MMA board. I see no use in being a fake moderator. What is the purpose of a moderator forum, if the majority of the mods on Getbig are locked out of it? In my opinion, all of the mods should be involved in the meetings and group discussions, and if you do not trust them to do that, then they shouldn't be mods in the first place.
No hard feelings, I just do not want to waste my time. Thanks for the opportunity regardless.

If you were displeased with your position, you should've taken it up with Ron and/or the other moderators instead of seeking attention elsewhere. OMR said he didn't realize I didn't have access and I think I was voted in.
About a month or so later I got a note that access was granted and then I posted a few times and I check it every so often.
