There is such a HUGE difference in getting your ass beaten for discipline and child abuse.....but the queer generation of the 60's shit parenting will beg to differ......and then wonder why the youth do all this "crazy shit." idiots.... ::)

Girl, 2, dies after Tysons plunge

A toddler has died after allegedly being thrown over the railing of a fifth-floor outdoor walkway at Tysons Corner Center Monday night, police said. The child's grandmother has been arrested.
Angelyn Ogdoc, 2½, of the 1800 block of Griffith Road in Falls Church, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital in critical condition after plunging an estimated 50 feet or more to the pavement, police said. The hospital notified detectives about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday that Angelyn had died.
Carmela Dela Rosa, 50, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said.

Dela Rosa lives in the 3100 block of Ellenwood Drive, police said. No one answered the door at the house early Tuesday.
Police said Dela Rosa, Angelyn and other family members were walking from the shopping mall to the parking garage on the elevated walkway Monday night when, "for an unknown reason," Dela Rosa allegedly picked up the child and threw her over the guardrail. Dela Rosa and the girl's other relatives remained at the site while police were summoned.
The walkway connects the fifth above-ground level of the parking garage with the shopping mall. Below it is a two-lane access road and asphalt sidewalks. The safety railing appears to be above waist-level on an average-height adult.

Bullshit, that diff times shit is an excuse. Kids are kids, kids always need structure, discipline, guidance, and love. A parents job is to offer all that, but to make sure that the child will grow up to be a productive and discipline person, who then becomes a good parent and a adult that makes good decisions...
All kids from 1-18 will try and test boundaries...you set them, and there are consequences. There can be progressive discipline, it doesn't have to be a whipping, but one has to be firm and stick to your guns. Or they will not respect you. None of that friend shit, none of that "well I used to smoke weed, so let me tell you...", you don't put yourself on their level.
My parents are old school, my dad looks like Bill Cosby, but acts like James Evans, my mom acts like Claire Huxable and Patti Labelle combined, she didn't take any mess, and didn't believe in "rebellion"...yeah, I got whippings (Peach Tree switches are worse than dogwood tree switches), but I have immense respect for my parents, more so than the people I know who are "friends" with their parents and go out drinking and to clubs with them...they actually have little respect for them and view them on their level, and tell them to shut up...

Hell, my mom is white and watches "Good Times" and she would always say, "Dynamite" when she used the switch on me. :D It only hurt my feeling but as i grew older, i knew that she still cared about me.

i grew up with 2 other brothers and when we got older and moms wasn't as strong anymore to do any whipping damage, she would have us do shores for days or else she wouldn't cook or wash our cloths.... but if it was bad then pops would step in with the Leather belt ;D

Your anecdotal evidence is great and all, but your missing the big picture, most folk are fine with this shit, but the unbalanced have a habit of fucking up their kids, would you want someone like a umedded disturbia fucking up his kids, it's bad news. Parents are a child's protector. When a parent strikes a child, it is like really cruel ,in my eyes, because the "protector" disobeys that trust a young, defenseless child gives to them
Parents should discipline their kids but NEVER use corporal punishment.
So, where do kids go to get the beatings they deserve?
The corrective beatings that children need should come from bullies and teachers
My mom or dad never laid a hand on me . She just sent me to Catholic School knowing that the nuns would straighten me out.....which they did in spades

I was a smart child, and if either one of my parents would have laid their hands on me, I wouldn't have been able to find justification for it, and would have started to hate my parents.

I almost think I would have to agree kid's need to be shown a sense of order at a early age, however bullies are the worst forum, there just as bad as unbalanced parents. I think some forum of military like discipline would work best, as long as we don't end up with a generation of fascists. Kids need a environment that shows order and restraint, not unbalance eraticness, and poor self control.
