Title: 2017 American Music Awards
Post by: Fortress on November 19, 2017, 07:24:19 PM
Just got in from the CD store and popped on the TV. The American Music Awards had just started. Is this for real? Right out of the gate and it’s all about love, diversity, equality, LGBQRTZ rights, acceptance ... essentially everything PC (a.k.a. what’s destroying our nations).

The last large record store in my area closed just this past summer after being open for 85 years. I don’t believe they exist anymore. If they do, it’s rare.

Surprisingly, a lot are left in the States -

http://www.recordstoreday.com/Stores .

Record Store Day is an annual thing here, you can go to their website, and it will point you to smaller independent stores and chains that still stock vinyl and usually CDs, and other media.

The one for Britain is here -

http://recordstoreday.co.uk/participating-stores/ .

A bunch of other nations celebrate it too, you can see them here -

http://www.recordstoreday.com/Stores?country=select .

These "award" shows have been this way for the last 10 years.  I stopped watching a l-o-n-g time ago.  Total waste of time.

Since YouTube, MTV has lost what they were originally about. Now, they have nothing left to survive, so they chose to get on the SJW bandwagon. It was edgy back in the day, now it's commonplace.

The entertainment industry has become a shit-show.  It's turned into a caricature of itself.  Art imitates life.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

HMV in Canada closed its doors and Sunrise Records took over many of the locations. I go each week. Otherwise I purchase my CDs on Amazon.

Garbage television. Cringe worthy.

I am glad I got rid of cable and never looked back.

I did the same over a decade ago. I don't understand why most people pay for all that crap, polluted with commercials

I do miss some channels, such as National Geographic, Investigative Discovery, Animal Planet, Science channel.

I believe some cable companies allow you to choose what channels you want to pay for--Id have to look into it. I refuse to pay for a full cable subscription for roughly 4-6 channels.

I cut the cable too, sometime around 2010-ish.  I'm not buying what they're selling--that goes for the news, the commercials, all of it.

I'm a sucker for documentaries as well, but there are plenty of free jewels to be found with some Googling. I had periods that I watched 3-4 docus on a day, but these days I take it easy, lol.
