Me doing a full leg workout Mon and following with a 5 mile trail run on Tues is not optimal for my lower body recovery.

Going to have to rephase shit a bit.

weight training & serious running is..OK but as you wrote not before a serious run or Ruck as you guys call it.
If you are training for as they call it a "tough mudder" or any serious assault course type events i would advise a body weight type training with chins/pull ups & basic push ups. Legs High rep stuff no ego squats.
staminia is the king. I saw big guys suffer on runs ..always be muscular but not like the Hulk.
I like how the US Navy Seals train, they have upper body strength & lower body plus staminia

All good advice, but I'm good.

Did a 20 hour rucking event last June and was fine.

I tailor my training to my goals, right now I'm trying to gain strength after injury recovery.

I will then switch to more endurance type stuff.

Tri's
Bi's

Doing bench weighted dips and I asked a younger guy to help me with a super set with 45lbs. I told him take one off after 10 reps until there were none and he said he'd help me put the plates on.

...Then he tries to put the first 45 on my shins :-\

yes i know that you´ve the experience as you run or ruck for years. we used to call it getting a Beasting.. I´m still amazed that people actually pay to do this type of training  ;D
Go for the US Navy SEAL Reserves if they have one & you´re young enough. I know in the UK they have SAS part timers, 23 SAS i believe.
I mean you seem to love it so maybe use the training

I hear ya but I have never had any desire to join anything "real military".  I've just believed they have training done right, and I do the events for the camaraderie with friends, to hear the real life stories from actual cadres, and actually learn some stuff.

I'm over 50 though, no reserves lol.

The Military is like this, you get as close to a man without being Homosexuel.
I remember a guy who cought crabs & a guy shaving his arse, just the way it was no homo intended.

Hit my totals on the Coan week 8 program.

But it took total effort and didn't feel good.  Thought about taking that max and resetting to week one, but I might as well try.

I will admit I felt underfed and stringy going into it, so I will try eat better and more this week and take shot.

Squats and an easy baseball practice.

And, my goodness, am I NOT in baseball shape.

Wakeup call for sure.

Need to do HIT daily for the next two weeks.
