this was a case of the judges judging a bodybuilder against himself......ronnie should have won. becaue even though gunter was at his best ever by far.......ronnie's "usual" package is so much stronger...........ronni e came in alright , for himself that is, so the change in gunter was much more noticable.............bu t in a bodybuilding contest you are not supposed to be judged against youself, you are supposed to be compared to the other guys on stage............
and gunter on his best day, could not have beat ronnie on his worst..............but that being said, that show really meant shit in the grand scheme of things, so they threw one away, to drum up some interest in the coming olympia, cause lets face it, it was getting pretty boring around that time seeing ronnie dominate year in , year out.

Actually I think that Gunther looked way better at the Olympia than at the show of strenght, while with Ronnie it was vice versa.
As they robbed Gunther at the Olympia, as you can't let a newcomer knock out the champ, they handed him the gift at the Show of Strength, where Ronnie was the clear winner imo (Ronnie was lightyears bigger, fuller, thicker, sharper at the SoS than at the Olympia few weeks before). Just shows what a joke that sport is.
Ronnie is, by far, the better bodybuilder.
On this night, however, Gunter brought his lifetime best and Ronnie looked terrible for ronnie. He expected to be "good enough" to win the SOS GNC and he wasn't.

Various bodybuilders often get referred to as the "Greatest Ever", not just Ronnie. There's no official "Greatest Ever" ranking that solidifies one single bodybuilder in the annals of history. It's subjective and can be based on a myriad of criteria. Just as easily as Ronnie could be deemed the greatest ever for 8 Olympia wins, so too could Lee Haney, perhaps more so based on a far better win/loss record, if one used that as a basis.
What isn't subjective is Ronnie's loss to Gunter. He lost, simple as that. For all of the excuses claiming politics, it's clear Ronnie lost. Why is that unthinkable? Ronnie had lost before, many times. True, it is only one single contest in a long storied career; however, to highlight it is with the intent of reminding certain Ronnie pundits, that despite his dominance at times, he was vulnerable in ways that other champs were not. It is a twist of irony that those that decry Gunter's winning over Ronnie, claiming fraudulent judging, have gladly accepted the decision of the same judging panel at times when a controversial win has been awarded to Ronnie.

Ok I'll try again. You can't judge the legs here cuz you are seeing them from the front so forget that. Ronnie can't hit the pose correctly. Now Ronnies actual tri is a little better, Gunthers shoulder is harder (showing more striations that Ronnie), Ronnie's mid section is bloated and looks terrible, Gunther's midsection is FLAT and CUT, Gunthers obliques are cut, Ronnies chest looks saggy in this pic so sorry Gunther's is better. The fact that you can see Ronnies glutes from the front ain't right either. Sorry Hulkster but you have no ability to judge a pose what so ever. When I created this thread, I knew Huckster in particular wouldn't be able to resist posting in it, he's so weak it's pathetic. I welcome him bumping this thread as often as he likes. It just gives more attention to the fact that his hero was vulnerable to a second tier bodybuilder, who usually needed a special invite for the Mr. Olympia. From the comments, it would appear that most people agree that Gunter was the deserving winner. That has to be a sore spot for Huck.

Oh and Gunter was awesome at that contest, wouldve beat multiple Dorians. Its my opinion, just like Nasser and Shawn Ray should have also beaten Dorian. Many people agree with this opinion so obviously its a legit one.
And yes Ronnie was caught slipping but at least Ronnie competed at multiple shows while he was Mr.O. If Ronnie just wanted to show up once a year and do a couple European shows after the Olympia he would have never lost between 98 and 07. Ronnie was a competitor and should be respected for that.

Exactly. This Neptune gimmick keeps fixating on 8 Olympia wins. In that case, Haney beats the shit out of Coleman, big time. Haney won his first title at a much younger age, and never lost during his reign, retiring as the man. Haney > Coleman! Then again, so was Gunter in 2002.
Hell the only questionable win for Haney was 1990 and that's not really questionable and he retired on stop literally his best conditioning was 1991

Not one singletime did Flex put it all together to bring his best package against Dorian. Not once. How then, and at which contest was he supposedly robbed? Levrone had his moments, as he looked good in 1995 for example, but Dorian was even better. Shawn, well, Shawn was hanging in the land of the giants. He was good, but never good enough.

That tends to be the conflict. Dorian's physique was less pleasing to one like Wheeler's, no doubt. However, Dorian's better ecompassed all of the requirements according to the criteria. Should how pleasing a physique is come more into play? Many would argue it should. That's an entire subject in itself, however.
Ummm that is kind of the point of this thread. No one is saying Gunther is better than Coleman. It's just that on that one single day Gunther WAS better.
