Seriously, in a post 9-11 America, anybody dumb enough to bring drugs on a plane should be prosecuted for stupidity if nothing else

In hand luggage yes, but not cargo. Huge amounts of drugs are still shipped in large suitcases inbetween clothes, and wrapped in a special way so dogs can't pick up the scent.

And the fact that he was busted in a domestic flight makes this even more pathetic.

the good thing about the american law is that its too easy to slip away with very minimal punishment,,,,if any at all in case of hiring a lawyer

$180K? 10% bond?

$180K bail amount is insurance and they consider him flight risk, he's screwed until his arraignment and after that he'll be insturcted NOT to leave the country until trial.

True. They will probably also take his passport as a condition of bail to make sure he doesn't go anywhere.
