I watched that movie just a few days ago - it was a very mundane John Hughes film. In hindsight, even his eponymous classic "The Breakfast Club" took on the same pattern of all his other movies, which is something like: unrealistic outcomes for the youthful characters, and unsympathetic adult characters, who get blamed for everything.
I don't think in real life, anyone ever finds women who look like Jennifer Connelly, because they are pretty rare. Even just in terms of numerical probability alone, you don't end up with a woman like her. But in the end, Frank Whaley and Jennifer Connelly end up together.
Completely unrealistic.

Movies are so fake.
I'm watching a Netflix now called Nigerian Prince. This has so far, been well worth watching. And I NEVER watch movies. I was looking for movies on the 1994 Rwandan genocide, and it came up. I'm pleased with it so far.
