If you're looking for a movie that beats the living crap outta you, I highly recommend that one (the French Original from 2008, not the US remake from 2015, which I haven't seen but is supposedly pretty tame).

I'm not highly sensitive, but that movie gave me flashbacks for weeks and is actually one of the very few I swore to god I'll never ever watch again.

I don't regret seeing it but will never watch it again, and I can't recommend it.  It's like a feature-length snuff film with extreme cruelty.

I will say that the house was really nice.

Yes, I own that movie. Truly one of the most disturbing horror movies. A Serbian Film is another one.

I didn't find A Serbian Film hard to watch at all to be honest, laughable at best. Especially the "newborn porn" scene looks like some a*hole sticks a doll on his cock lol Just a pathetic breach of taboo screaming for attention.

Do not recommend.  Trailer and first ten minutes were excellent but that was it.   Don’t waste your time.

Yeah, but the whole scene was so over the top that it was pretty hard to take it seriously. Serbian film rather gave me that "I don't know whether to laugh or to cry"-vibes for the most part, Martyrs almost made me feel physically ill for the rest of the day (and even the next day).

This movie is still one of the most despicable and disgusting ever made for the sheer fact that they were torturing and killing living animals in front of the camera just to add some shock value because they had no more money for Special FX. The scene where they're slaughtering the giant turtle alive is amongst the most horrifying in cinematic history and one of the lead actors was so ashamed for participating in it later on that he never stepped foot in public ever again.

Cannibal Holocaust was brutal as well. Watching animals tortured bothered me more than watching humans tortured. The humans were just actors but the animals were really tortured.

Now any movie with animals has the "No animals were harmed in the making of this film" at the end of it. American Humane probably started monitoring films being made after that movie.

Wake in Fright (film is on YT) has a scene of actual 'roo hunting.  Nicely unsettling film with a vey good Donald Pleasence.
