let me try and help you out.

How much did you give to the poor/down and out and out in America?  Actually I don't care, that is between you, your god and your tax accountant. The same goes for other private citizens, what ever they do with their money is their business.

so I assume that you are objecting to gov giving money to Haiti?  

How much did the US give to Israel in "aid"?  I read somewhere about $8+ Billion? you should be burning mad about that.
How much are we paying the "war lords" in Iraqi and Afghanistan to play nice for a while? probably billions by now..yes believe that we are paying them off.

In total I would estimate the US gov will probably give less that $25 million in actual dollar aid. They will probably work with domestic US companies to dump surplus goods there at inflated prices and inflated tax relief.  At the same time getting concessions from the Haitian govt to do what ever we want there for the next 50 life times. So for a few pennies we get global good will and media distraction from the real issues that we are facing.  I would say that is money went spent.

fair enough...although you'd prolly piss a few pakistani people off calling em "indian" simply because the 2 countries have a huge cricket rivalry...and viceversa....
