Average life span?

Damn, I didn't know Luke Wood and Atwood were dead. Haven't been too up to date on the forums. How about you spread your message on gh15.org?
I think some deaths are not directly related to steroids...especially when the guy is past 50, but many are a direct cause.
Let's face it, heavy roid use in bbing is a complete contradiction to a healthy lifestyle. Most of these guys have a drug problem and compete to validate their drug use.
"I have a comp coming up, so I'm on XYZ...you know, for the competition....it's what you have to do to compete."
Well...don't compete then fool. ;) So dumb.
I don't view bbers as "gladiators" or doing something noble and impressive....it's the same as a heroin addict overdosing...no different. You can actually bodybuild without drugs...go figure.

The big problem seems to be over-use and abuse. I think that small amounts of steroids won't hurt, and you can make tons of gains with that above being natural but so many guys tend to cut down on working-out and add more steroids each time to the point where they are taking huge amounts daily. You sound like the guy who says my uncle smoked since he was 15 and he's now 55 with no problems. Steroids are a risk to health. I hope your uncle lives to 100 but don't be surprised if he has heart, prostate problems, or other problems that causes him to lose that physique and become sickly before his time.
My uncle took 1 dianabol pill each morning for 15 years, without any health problems, and is now 55 years old and about 210 ripped with a 6 pack and the biggest forearms I've ever seen on anyone personally. 18 inches at least.
didn't Mcneil had his spleen blown to pieces with one gunshot by his fiancee's roid rage?....his death was indirectly drugs related.... ;)
I'm pretty sure Macho Man died in a car accident. Let's start a thread about how many guys died throughout the history of auto racing. Or mountain climbing. If you want to live to be a hundred just keep doing what you're doing, sitting in front of your computer and never leaving the house. The light that burns twice as bright shines half as long.
Anybody put in Kristie Ramsay?
A female bodybuilder, who was stabbed and strangled to death by her boyfriend, a bodybuilder named Gordon Kimbrough (they were NPC level).
Gordon then tried to kill himself by injecting bleach into his neck, but paramedics and police on the scene were able to save him. He's still doing time, I think. Happened in the early 90s.
Yep. But not before she took off his jaw with the first shotgun blast. She hit him twice - once in the face which ripped off his jaw, and the second shot to his gut which finished him off.
Apparently, when 911 responded, they found Sally standing at the stove cooking something. And Ray was on the floor of the kitchen bleeding to death. They said they don't know how he said it without a jaw, but they heard him say something along the lines of "Sally did it".
Cops said she was cold about the whole thing.
There was a great expose article done in MuscleMag back in the day about it. Someone interviewed Sally (think it was Teagan Clive) who really got Sally to come out about a lot of stuff. Great read, but probably wouldn't find it online.
If you want to live to be a hundred just keep doing what you're doing, sitting in front of your computer and never leaving the house. That is the worst possible advice for getting to 100.
What a sobering thread. But the same could be said about NFL players. It's a sport that is very taxing on the body. Athletes choose to engage in this sport because they love the rewards.
That is the worst possible advice for getting to 100.
How did hogan live? It seems every one from that generation didn't?
How did hogan live? It seems every one from that generation didn't?
Because Hogan had it the best. He had the fewest hardships to mask with booze and drugs.
Hogan was a 3 trick pony. Never any high risk moves. He had a hip replacement due to yrs of his death-defying leg drop....
He also was provided the best accommodations in so far as travel means, work schedule, compensation, etc. Vince's secretary even ordered all of his gear for him, and ring announcer Howard Finkel pissed in Hulkster's cup on drug-test day.
Hogan had not one care in the 80's.

Undertaker and Kane are dead too.
Don't forget Paul Bearer too. He was buried alive in cement.
Hahaha I just got a mental picture of that whole scenario, including the orders coming down from Vince :)
Honky Tonk Man said in one of those shoots that Finkel was as straight as an arrow when it came to partying but that Mean Gean was quite the wild man. The latter somewhat surprised me.
At one point - before the testing became stricter from media pressure - Hulkster's "cup" and test results went straight to Vince's office.
I imagine Vince would swirl the glass a few times, hold it up to an incandescent light bulb, and then "study" it for a moment before taking a whif and then a small sip - swishing it for several seconds like you would fine wine - and then proudly declaring, "The only thing in this piss is about $40 million annually! Good job, Terry!!"
Dino was involved with some very dangerous Italians in Montreal, smuggling cigarettes.
I believe he double crossed the Mafia by selling the same contraband cigarettes they were at the time. They did a real number on him, too.
I just read his Wikipedia page. 7 bullets to the head and 10 to the chest. Insane.
I remember them really trying to put him over as a strong man and he certainly had the build. Did you know of any official powerlifting/bench press events he actually competed in?
Speaking of wrestling's strong men, the OP needs to add Davey Boy Smith to the list.
Andreas Muenzer - Pro Bodybuilder - Heart failure - Age 31I remember multiple organ failure was given as the cause of death.I suppose his heart stopped in the end.But still....
Guys in the NFL are the walking dead. People dont realize what they put their body through just to play week after week. They take a TON of pain meds then get shot up on game day and repeat that for 16 weeksWatch the lawsuits coming down the road from all the head trauma, post concussion syndrome etc!
Watch the lawsuits coming down the road from all the head trauma, post concussion syndrome etc!
How is Coleman alive, along with Cutler, and of course...Branch Warren?
Some just aren't as susceptible to heart disease perhaps.
If you look at alot of the wrestlers, it was not just steriods that killed them it was generally an OD of pain pills, sleeping meds, alcohol or a combo of the both. I do not use AAS but I don't beleive they are the sole thing that kill people.
Speaking of wrestling's strong men, the OP needs to add Davey Boy Smith to the list.
I remember Davy Boy and his cousin The Dynamite Kid wrestling at Stampede Wrestling in Calgary in the early 80's. They were both skinny dudes, until they went on the Juice.
Yes: both were very talented, but needed the size to compete with the mass monsters of that period. Even then, they were still comparatively on the smaller side.
Davey really bulked up, though, after he & Dynamite split. He was on some good stuff by then. In fact, he & Ultimate Warrior were fired after it was discovered they were both receiving shipments of hGH from a British pharmacy.
That really surprises me that Davey was ever a skinny guy. I always just assumed he was a natural endo who probably lived in the gym and hit the heavy weights hard. To make the transition from "skinny guy" to THAT,,,, damn, he must have REALLY been hitting the gas hard!

Marianna Komlos (September 3, 1969 – September 26, 2004)
Canadian bodybuilder, fitness model and Valet. She is perhaps best known for her stint in World Wrestling Federation in 1999 as Marianna and [1]"Mrs. Cleavage" Where she was the Manager and "mother" for a wrestler known as "Beaver Cleavage" a parody of the TV show Leave It To Beaver. Following the termination of the Beaver Cleavage gimmick in a scripted 'storm out' by Charles Warrington due to the absurdity of the gimmick, Marianna was portrayed as the girlfriend of Warrington (now with no gimmick), going by the name of 'Chaz'.
Komlos died on September 26, 2004 from breast cancer. She was 35.

Yes, but he didn't die. He died in his hotel room brushing his teeth before going to the gym to workout.....must have died instantly because the toothbrush was still in his hands when Chavo found himDam it change that avatar back to Mickey Mouse it scares me.
Dr.Death Steve Williams, another legit badassI know three guys/bodybuilders who trained at the same gyms that died young of heart attacks.

I wonder if big daddy v nelson frazier ever believed he'd live to old age. Funny enough before i heard of his death a few days before i wondered if he was still around.
Its gotta be nearly impossible to live at that weight let alone make it to old age. When do you ever see sometime in their late 50's/60's that size?
Serious question, how long has big show got left you think?

I am sure steroids played a role, but I am willing to bet more than half were major drug addicts when it comes pain killers and recreational drugs
impossible undertaking, you could write a book about the subject for anyone of your categories there.here's a few
And these are only the famous people...There are probably thousands more unknowns who died young from the drugs. I know several from different gyms I trained at and one personal friend.

Regarding the Guerrero in ring heart attack, it was scripted. Well executed by Eddie but still scripted. JBL was one of his best friends outside the ring and had been for many years, he would have broke character for sure if this was actually going down.
Plus weve seen heart attacks on camera before, the cameraman does not stick a camera in your face for all to see. The angles change & focus is placed elsewhere to not expose viewers to it. Kings is a classic example, and dont give me, "they wanted to focus on the match" BS.

Television viewers did not see the incident. During the fall, a pre-taped vignette was being shown on the pay-per-view broadcast as well as on the monitors in the darkened arena. Afterward, while Hart was being worked on by medical personnel inside the ring, the live event's broadcast showed only the audience. Meanwhile, WWF television announcer Jim Ross repeatedly told those watching live on pay-per-view that what had just transpired was not a wrestling angle or storyline and that Hart was hurt badly, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Here's another bodybuilder's name from my era (1950-1960). Bodybuilder Tom Sansone died at the age of 38. He was Mr. America 1958 and Mr. Universe (amateur) 1963. There were rumors that steroids contributed to his cancer, but his brother denied that.
A funny thing, I once was watching a quiz show that had already started, and there as a contestant was none other than Tom Sansone. I don't know if he displayed his body before the quiz, but he was dressed in a suit and tie and was in a booth to answer the questions.
