Agreed.  However, your previous comment about a well trained GSD being able to handle a truly game pit is inaccurate, imo.  I am a staunch opponent to any form of dogfighting, but a game pit would annihilate any GSD, trained or not.  The only breed that scumbag fighters consider to sniff a dogfighting ring (other than pits) are Tosa's, but they are very massive.

I don't know.  You might be right.  But annihilate is a very strong word.  It would be a much closer fight in my opinion.  And it depends on the size of the pit.  A GSD's and a Pit's bite force are almost equal with the GSD's being 240 and the Pit's being 238.  A Rottie was 328lbs.  A Hyena's was almost 300lbs more than a Lion's at 1000lbs.  A crocodile was 2500 lbs.  HOLY FUCK!  Can you imagine a crocodile?

caucasion mountain dog ...bred to fight bears and kill wolves that could harm livestock

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasian_Shepherd_Dog

Temperament
Caucasian Shepherds are typically assertive, brave, alert, strong, hardy and courageous.

Unless properly socialised, they may exhibit ferocious and unmanageable tendencies. They seldom have time for strangers (but will greet family friends warmly) and have powerful guarding instincts. Everything and everyone who belongs to the family, including children, cats, other dogs, etc. will be regarded by this dog as part of its family and as such will fall under its guardianship. Owing to their size and nature these dogs should not be left alone with children.

Aggression and dominance toward unknown dogs should be expected unless the animal has been extensively socialised at a young age and even then some unwanted behaviours may occur.

An ovtcharka is not a dog for everyone, it requires an owner who knows how to display strong, calm and balanced leadership and one who is willing to spend a lot of time ensuring the development of a well-balanced animal.

Well my god look at the size of that thing.  I would expect it to be able to destroy most dogs.  Size becomes a distinguishing factor at that level.
