The Funkees

Afrobeat pretty much was started by Nigerian Fela Kuti, for those who don't know, think Bob Marley meets James Brown meets Jimi Hendrix...Fela Kuti's albums are known for being like 4 or 5 songs, but each song is like 15-20 mins long...

If you watched Sesame Street in the early 80s you'd know...not a black thing ::)...It was the song at the end I believe...

Many of their songs were striaght Jams when think about, the "One Of These Things Dont belong", even Mr.Rogers had some smooth Jazz. The Electric Company had some bangers, like the "BloodHound Gang" theme song (coincidently, I think the lightskinned dude died of drugs)

The children's shows now suck...no head nodding songs...

If I ever have kids, I'm making them watch DVDs of Children's shows from the 70s and 80s. They'll know how to count, have fun and have a healthy appreciation for good music.

A totally racist video, but if you were growing up in the '70's this will bring back memories. It was a touchstone:

I have great videos for the little one. Electric Company, Conjunction, I'm just a bill. She doesn't understand some of it but she likes it. Also, cartoons from back then, ya know, smurfs, care bears, popeye, steamboat willy, woody woodpecker, we both big fans of Tom and Jerry

You remember the episode of when Tom was trying to impress the white Pussy...cat, and he was singing "Is you Is, or Is you Ain't my Baby?" and Jerry couldn't sleep?

Damn, you beat me too it... ;D

funny how some cartoons, like the ending of the Flintstones, when you think about are trifling, cause what Fred does seems almost like the beginning of a Domestic Violence situation.
