This is the correct scorecard. First place gets 5 judges votes. There are usually 11 or 13 judges at the Olympia. Each judge individually scores on what they think, then you deduct the 3 or 4 highest placings, and the 3 or four lowest placings, and keep the middle five average.
Hence (based on 11 judges), if Kai got three #1 votes, and eight #2 votes, he still will only get 10 points (middle average).
Likewise, if three judges put Phil Heath in 3rd place, and eight judges put him in first, he still gets the 5 points.
I have no idea what that other scorecard was, 14 points? 28 points? Bob Chick read the scorecard that I had.
