2012 Olympia - The Mr. Olympia scorecard
« on: September 30, 2012, 04:16:16 AM »
Edit: This is the correct scorecard as we had. Not sure what the other is.

Thought that branch was announced in 5th and wolf 6th,well not according to the scorecard. And i thought Phil won by 1 point,.... well not according to the scorecard.

Maybe Bob screwed up the announcement.  Let's hope Chick doesn't get canned over this.

It looks like there were 7 judges scoring and Phil received straight firsts in both rounds for a total of 14.  Kai received straight seconds for a total of 28.

the "Phil won by one point" was a joke by Bob Chic, he said "there was one point in it", then said "in the 212 class between 4th and 5th"

He didn't get straight firsts if that were the case his final score would have been 10 and Kai would have been a 20

Traditionally, there are 5 judges scoring and you're right 10 pts for straight firsts and 20 for straight seconds.  But, look at Kai's score of 28.  If there were only 5 judges scoring, then several judges scored Kai in 3rd or even 4th place.  I think they took the score of 7 judges this time, for whatever reason, and Phil was straight firsts, Kai straight seconds.

They realized the schmoes would disapprove that a bear like Branch came in 6th, so they placed him in 5th.

think you're right there because scores for all places(2nd, 3rd, 4th etc) all look far higher than previous years.

And the whole"only 1 point in it" bullshit is just to make the crowd think it could have gone either way but Phils the champ and you have to beat the champ. But like its been said Phil must have won 1sts from every judge, and theres no way Phil wins the majority of the comparison poses.

The 1 point thing was a jest, 5 seconds later he said "In the 212 between 5th and 6th"

This is the correct scorecard.  First place gets 5 judges votes.  There are usually 11 or 13 judges at the Olympia.  Each judge individually scores on what they think, then you deduct the 3 or 4 highest placings, and the 3 or four lowest placings, and keep the middle five average.

Hence (based on 11 judges), if Kai got three #1 votes, and eight #2 votes, he still will only get 10 points (middle average).

Likewise, if three judges put Phil Heath in 3rd place, and eight judges put him in first, he still gets the 5 points.

I have no idea what that other scorecard was, 14 points? 28 points?  Bob Chick read the scorecard that I had.

This looks like the correct one.  Where did the bogus scorecard come from?

ron, i dont want to get out of line here, i am simply stating the facts, but the npconline news website were the ones that originally posted the scorecard with wolf in 5th and branch in 6th.  it was in this link here that this scorecard could be found. JUST NOW, the same link has JUST been edited to show an updated scorecard that makes branch 5th and wolf 6th:
