Hmmm....although this looks legit I still got some doubts.I mean in 28 days you eat like 60lbs...so he transformed 100% of his food intake into muscle ???
Something isnt right here.
-
that cant be virgin use of steroids..it more then likely has to do with muscle memory. him coming off for months then getting back on and gaining what he had lost when he was off
-
It's called "muscle memory" you idiot. He was already a Mr. America before those photos were taken.
-
that doesnt look like 40+ pounds of bodyweight.

Your mom's vagina has "muscle memory" everytime I come over. Say hi to her for me, Bri.

I dont really belive in muscle memory. At least not to that extent.
Anyway that dosent look like 60lbs of muscle gain.
60lbs of muscle is what BB gain they're whole competetive life, shit man a 180lbs regular gym boy tunring into a 240 Flex Wheeler?? Sorry...this is BS.

that so called experiment has been greatly talked about and long after caseys retirement he is quoted in an interview as talking about that study saying "if you believe that you'll belive anything".

Haha ,classic :D

its legit....it was a mike mentzer experiment...3 workouts per week at 30 minutes per session, for 4 weeks....read it...6 hours total training time.
it was documented in the guniess book of world records as the greatest feat of muscular gain in the shortest time...i believe its still in there.
what you see is the result of mostly muscle memory.
for those who dont believe in MM, you need to layoff the gym for 6 months/year and then go back..take measurements first, then about 1 month later...
probably those who dont believe in it are those who are always on a cycle, or dont train when they go off so they attribute their regains to the gear, which in reality only plays a small part in the early stages of resuming training.
besides, to be technically correct, it isnt MM, its the brain re engaging the prior learnt patterns and recruiting those cells needed both in the brain itself and in the muscles.
so there...naa.

i think the true experiment was how gullable people can be.
-
muscle memory played a factor, but it would have taken him a lot longer to gain back muscle without drugs, and impossible to get that big without drugs. The drugs were a big factor. Not to mention his body fat lowered substantially as he gained so much muscle.
-
MM O.K. But that much in 28 days!?I'm calling bullshit.
-
i agree with the theory, but come on.... 28 days.... 6 hours of training ::)

I've read interviews with Casey where he described the particulars of this experience. He had been in an accident and hadn't been able to train. Arthur Jones contacted him about the "experiment" and offered him a large cash incentive for every pound he was able to "gain." Casey basically starved himself to get into the lower 160s and then did the experiment training brief and super intensely while eating a high fat "whatever-he-wanted-to-eat" diet. Read as: Starved himself and didn't train for months, then pigged out and trained hard. Were the numbers legit? I don't know. But, to be 212 lbs as a mesomorph and not very cut isn't totally unreasonable to accomplish.
I competed in my first contest awhile back and weighed 197 on the day of the show, by the night after the show (about 30 hours later) I weighed 210, 13 lbs gain in 30 hours. Did I pig out? Yes, but didn't force feed. Mostly it was carbs and water weight. That's what happens when you starve and dehydrate then rehydrate and pig out.
Jones skewed the actual circumstances of this "experiment" in order to sell his nautilus equipment. But, knowing the true details, the whole thing makes a lot more sense. Muscle memory? Kinda, more like recovering from and accident with lots of food and heavy training. Maybe juice, who knows but Casey himself? I'm just saying he basically regained what he already had in a short period, however he did it.

aaaaaaaah the infamous Colorado experiment! Everything was fully documented and the results were legit
-
What has fail to have been mentioned here is that Casey was starved down to that weight for months prior to the 4 week period.

Up til this day Viator swears he took no steroids there. BS.
Also he did some free weight training apart from the Jones prescribed machine training.

Pretty much no one else in the world would look like FLEX at 240lbs the way he pulled it off.
-
Even considering the flaws of the experiment, the gains are impressive.
Remember that Arnold could not reach his former max at 1975 Mr.O after 4 months of training 4 hours aday. Casey could do that in 28 days with much less training.
-
Casey was real young at that time and just primeed for growth. He himself admitted it was mostly a rebound effect. Remember, Casey was probably more disposed to putting on muscle mass than anyone ever has been. A genetic freak if ever there was one.
-
-He starved himself first.
-He & Schwarzenegger were both in the category of BBs who would experience particularly dramatic changes from roids. Dramatic changes from that subset of people.
-
Casey and Arnold are probably the 2 most responsive BBers ever. The way they built muscle seemed effortless, i mean Arnold added almost 20" onto his chest in the first 4-5 year period of his training. He also had the biggest arms in europe, which could have been bigger still has he been able to build proportionate triceps to his amazing biceps.
As for Casey, yes he starved himself down and muscle memory helped him alot. But there are maybe a handful of people around who could have done exactly what he did and build the muscle mass he did. Check the pics of him when he was 18-19
-
Casey use to workout in Main Event fitness in Atlanta. 1 big mo-fo. Had to be in his mid-50's & he did have a gut, but the man was as big as a frigging house. Was a really nice guy too.

Not Mike Mentzer's experiment, but Arthur Jones'--creator of Nautilus equipment.

I saw Casey in Las Vegas about 10 years ago. He was standing by Las Vegas Blvd in front of Caesars, it was 115 degrees, he was wearing a leather jacket, he was sweating like a nazi in 1945 and his toupee was all crooked. He's looked better.
