Title: Multi-Vitamins - Whats your opinion of them?
Post by: ratherbebig on October 23, 2016, 12:26:23 PM

1 - good base for health, cant get enough from regular food so smart move to supplement.
2 - not needed, you get most from regular foods, better to supplement with a few specific ones that is hard to get enough of from foods.
3 - not needed, no supplements are.
4 - good base but you should add to that (fishoil etc etc )
5 - ?

This is a big lie that supplement companies spread, you can get all your vitamins from food, protein, carbs, fruits and vegetables , dont let them brainwash you and take your money.

Put your diet into the following website and it will show any vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Then you can supplement what you are low in, or add foods that contain what you need.

stop listening to palumbo and the crap he is spilling, you dont need a fiber supplement, all fruits, vegetables and carbs are loaded with fiber, the only people who would need a fiber supplement are people who eat feed on process junk which has no fiber,  if you are a bodybuilder you must be eating healthy muscle foods to grow so why would you add fiber.

Low quality garbage.  The minerals they use are not bio-available.

Been taking psyllium husk fiber everyday for the last 30 years.  Keeps me regular and everything moving nicely.  Sitting down to take a dump literally takes 30 seconds... it's a beautiful thing.

I always add powdered magnesium to my daily psyllum husk fiber drink, and it cleans everything out extremely well.

Waste of money.  Take a multi and an hour later take a pee with neon green color.  That shit just passes through you.  Not even sure how much of it the body absorbs

One thing to keep in mind when ingesting all these vitamins. They help cells grow...even the bad ones. My best friends father was an Oncologist and always spoke against multi's and vitamins in general. He was a big advocate with antioxidents though.

Back in the early 1990's I had some Pro's sitting around the house. I asked them if they believed in taking a good multivitamin, they all laughed. One said, You see me advertising on Weider Products? I said yes, he said I don't take any of that bullshit. It's all bullshit.

I use to take the expensive high potency multi vitamins. Then in addition take extra C, E, and a B complex.  Just a waste of money. Taking extra doesn't mean it improves health. You just need enough the stop disease from a vitamin deficiency. I go to Walmart and buy the cheapest multi they have. Due to law suits what's on the label is what's inside. Supplements are completely unregulated.

Guys taking whey protein, multi vitamin, extra individual vitamins, creatine, energy drinks, and who knows what else is wasting money.  It took a long time before I felt secure enough to stop the nonsense. I still think I need a protein supplement.  Maybe I will go back but so far truth be told I'm in fantastic shape without it. No not in the bodybuilding mirror athlete look but as a real athlete.

If one is deficient in nutrients and are not getting them from food then they should supplement them.

You must be doing something really wrong if you suffer from vitamin deficiency in a western country. Supplementation, without the supervision of a physician, is on top of that dangerous if you don't know what dosage you need. Vitamin B and C are water soluble, hence you can't overdose but the others are stored in the body so you better know what you're doing.

It's not that simple, Folate for example is essential  to make one of your nucleotides in your DNA, thiamine. You need folate to make new DNA for new cells that you make in your body every day. If you don’t have folate it can cause breaks in your DNA and mutations, which leads to cancer eventually. Someone who already has cancer shouldn’t take a lot of folate because it breeds more cancer cells, since it helps them to divide.

Sort of the same thing with HGH.  Sure it makes muscles grow but it does the same to everything else in your body.

Why? People have been on record, living to an old age (70, 80, 90) for thousands of years. Did they take multi-vitamins?

Life has always been a crapshoot/lottery. You can try to take certain precautions, but that is just to help you feel better about yourself.

The healthiest, fittest people on earth still die. Why? Just because.

Sorry but your opinion is trash you dont need vitamins the only person who need vitamins are sick people who cant eat or if you have some problems that stops you from eating properly, I was brainwashed just like you but I educated myself instead of spending my life letting people con me into buying products that I dont need, too bad you never bother to educate yourself.

Do not put words in my mouth, nor bait me, so you can have a canned answer.

In my opinion, your religious beliefs mean jack shit in regards to your health.

You will die when you die. Having a positive attitude in life has never stopped a bullet, or a disease from doing it's job.

I do not believe in organized religion, but I do hold some stock in prayer. Every morning that you awake, just give a simple thanks to the universe.

Your life is equivalent to a Powerball number. Accept it.
