Yes, Bob was born in Jamaica, but his father was not.  There was a special about Marley on VH1.  He was half white.

I know his dad was white, but his dad was a born Jamaican, from a rich family. Foreigners will often assume [no offence intended to anyone] that whites here are not local, so I believe that is where the thought his father was foreign may stem from.
