Irum was burned on her face, back and shoulders twelve years ago when a boy whom she rejected for marriage threw acid on her in the middle of the street. She has undergone plastic surgery 25 times to try to recover from her scars.

As a result of the burning Najaf became blind and after being abandoned by both her parents she now lives with relatives. She has undergone plastic surgery around 15 times to try to recover from her scars.

Those cavemen who did this deserve the same treatment. (that is actually what the victims can do by law ie burning their attackers' faces with acid)

Those have got to be the bravest women I have ever seen. I'd go crazy with revenge or not want to live anymore if that happened to me. I didn't know that this acid burning was so common.

There are documented instances of this occurring all over the Muslim world. Turkey's a little more progressive than the rest of them so it's not surprising that it's not as prevalent there.

Really although the majority are Muslim, Turkey has no official religion unlike Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. Even though human rights laws suck in Turkey, its by far the best over there.
