Its like when an off duty police officer gets killed, they always mention it.
They never say an off duty plumber was murdered, why, its just the same.

Given that he was such a high profile politician killed under these circumstances, technically it was an assassination.

I actually haven't checked the dictionary definition - but you learn something new everyday. Perhaps I misspoke.
What I thought you meant was that this was a random shooting, hence "assassination" may not be an appropriate term. But it appears to have been targeted - if that makes a difference here.
I agree with you that we're valuing human lives differently for different people. Maybe political leaders get more death threats, hence the different terminology?

So as it turns out, I speak French fluently. How did you know what those tweets said? If you do speak French, I was unaware!
For Anglo Getbiggers: what that bitch said in the first tweet was that she mainly disagreed with Shinzo Abe's views politically [she did not strictly agree with any of his positions], but his murder is unforgivable/unacceptable.
Then the next tweeter stated that the shooter was a far-left nutcase, essentially.
