Informative videos.
well i hope so, even though this is a bodybuilding site Wing Tsun friends train with me in the Gym.
-
I find now that in my older years i am actually faster & much more disciplined in my training.
-
&t=10s
-
-
heīs totally correct the best Wing Tsun came from Germany & infact most of the best students in the USA learned this system.
-
-
excellent chi sao

-
-
nice chain punches

Everybody have fun tonight.
Everybody Wang Chung tonight.

Donnie Yen as Wing Chun master "Yip Man"
-
Donnie Yen as Wing Chun master "Yip Man"
Never watched it but itīs almost as bad as the 70s kung fu films.
-
second Form
-
GM Bobby
-
A good man
-
Philipp Bayer is a true pro who brought Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun to Germany & Europe.
-
I love the Filipino systems
-
Filipino boxing is also interesting. I like their strikes which are also like slaps, even head butts in there all good stuff
-
of course a knife is very fast & a slight wrist movement can change the angle but better to learn about a knife than be ignorant.
-
what i did learn in my years of Aikido was Tai sabaki, body & feet movements.
Important in every system.
-
Tai sabaki is important. Emin is a great guy.
-
but can they do it under pressure in a real fight
-
but can they do it under pressure in a real fight
Wing Tsun or Wing Chun is chinese Boxing which is like western boxing or in Eskrima with a slightly different emphasis in its techniques, the goals however are the same.
Itīs very difficult to explain this on the internet
-
A good video for Home trainers. I still train with weights but some donīt.
-
interesting is in Filipino Boxing thereīs a type of " Chi sao"
Many systems are related in some way. This is very evident.
-
-
He is well known in the Jeet Kune do world. Jeet Kune do has a small element of Wing Tsun but many other great techniques
-
this is an exercise i find very useful for martial arts training with high reps for endurance in the shoulders to keep your hands up.
-
Rene Latosa was a very friendly guy on seminars
-
Rene Latosa (RIP)

but can they do it under pressure in a real fight
For self-defense purposes these techniques work well.
They are not meant to be used (in fact cannot be used) in a cage fight like UFC or MMA.
Example where self-defense techniques are meant to be used:
A mugger attacks you on the street.
You kick him in the balls, side kick his knee or stick your fingers in his eye, punch him in the solar plexus.
All vital points.
This gives you time to escape.
You don't want to be rolling around trying to get an armbar on the street.

a legend in FMA
-
an old man in the videos but a warrior in the true sense in his youth.
These guys did actually fight each other in the past.
-
outstanding !
-
-
what i find interesting is these older systems & people like Bill Newman (EWTO) incorporate middle age fighting into his Escrima system.
-
-
Good stuff
-
Bill Newman on the 2nd video you see his love of Medieval weapons.
-
Emin is the best i have ever met in WT
-
-
:)
-
Balintawak is definitely one of the most effective systems around.
no fancy shit just direct
-
Itīs actually quite interesting how methods changed slightly when wearing armour & this would probably have played a big role in the combat between the Natives who used a type of escrima against the spanish who wore some armour.
Modern systems of escrima such as Latosa escrima train in medieval weapons.
It makes sense to learn from the enemy & use what is useful.
-
Going to a seminar to look at this style of Kali .. Pekiti Tirsia Kali
Looks great
-
excellent
-
He was a very old man when this was filmed but as a young man he was very fast & could strike multiple times.
what i like about FMA is their casual attitude, not stiff like the Japanese systems.
-
-
The Filipino FMA guys actually remind me of the Gurkhas i met in the Army.
smile at you then cut off your head :)
-
and to think these old guys live in a village somewhere & are very unassuming
-
WOW..this is Gold, sorry about the quality but the speed of their moves is amazing to watch (at least for me)
-
This is actually very interesting from a bodybuilding point of view & for FMA. I actually never really thought about the hand muscles or fingers so deeply until one day some years back i got slashed by a knife in my hand & had a small OP.
Gymnasts are amazing specimens indeed.
-
Tommy Carruthers is very fast..impressive :)
-
what i find funny is the "hidden costs" in some Organisations where they try to pretend thereīs some hidden secrets in Wing Tsun such as the latter forms with the double knives or wooden Dummy forms.
Nothing is secret just a money scam in some Organisations & i realised this quickly not just my intuition but speaking to many people who were in these organisations.
Ip Chun no secrets just hard work

Interesting stuff, Donny.
