Inflation makes real assets like stocks go up in value while your interest bearing deposits lose purchasing power. We all absolutely need to be in stocks. For most just buying SPY which is the SP500 index tracker is a great start. You get market return with market risk. You don't need a lot of unsystematic individual stock risk as a retail investor.
