This is probably the first time in history of such an occurrence.
Why would a company not want to have Mr. Olympia as one of their athletes?
a) Less money in the industry for sponsorships
b) Phil's asking rate too high
c) Phil's personality makes it less favorable for companys to want to sponsor him
d) all of the above

He lost his last contract. Whatever the reasons, he lost it and it was a million dollar plus contract. The way it was worded was he wasn't fulfilling his obligations.
While "A" is true, it doesn't affect Mr. O. He's the top of the pyramid or at least he's supposed to be. "C" definitely plays a part.

the idea is if athlete x endorses product x', you will look/perform like athlete x if you consume product x.
no one wants to emulate Phil Heath.

Also, when some instagram/youtube nobody has more "fans" and "followers" than Cheath, why give that narrow clown sponsorship when for the same or less money others could promote your products to a potentially larger audience?

Heath is only marginally more likeable that a rapist or a peadophile, a supplement line endorsed by jimmy saville or Gary glitter would likely sell better

It's his personality, he's an arrogant asshole, which in other sports like boxing/mma this approach is profitable, but in bodybuilding it isn't. Look at humble genuine down to earth guys who are making money like, Seth Feroce, John Meadows, Jonathan Peters, these guys are making big money because they are relatable. They all have that blue collar, hard working, genuine personality. Phil tried to be the Mayweather of bodybuilding and it's a terrible marketing decision.

Also he’s narrow / has a horrendous turtle belly & his personality isn’t pleasant.

Nobody cares about physique, look at guys like Rhoden or Beyeke these guys have amazing builds, but nobody cares about that. It all about personality.

Phil Heath makes Jay Cutler look like Ric Flair when it comes to personality. So boring you can't even get mad at the douche level he is.

Couple of reasons
(1)...he’s the most emotional unstable sensitive Mr O ever and all his 10 year old comments retaliation bullshit online makes him a no brainer for not having major contact of anything other than winning the O once a year.
(2)...for 10 months of the year he looks like a huge glazed doughnut with the personality too boot, has there actually EVER been another Mr O that anyone Major @ all wanted too sponsor/endorse/ outside of bodybuilding other than Arnold?

Physique and personality. It's not all about the personality. They go hand in hand. Again, would the aforementioned people act the same if they had the genetics to be winners and were multi-O winners?
Rhoden hasn't brought his back up, and yep, his personality is as sleepy as he looks. If both went up, it would be a different all game. Same for "He won't peel" Beyeke.

Phil is by no means an asshole! He was portrayed in a bad light in Generation Iron but that dude got class and is a winner. Look out when he gets 10 olympias. He will!
