I don't know what it's like nowadays, but in the 80's and 90's student athletes didn't get shit.

1980s: Luther Campbell's "pay for play"
2 Live Crew member Luther Campbell was alleged to have been behind what was referred to as a "pay-for-play" system, which involved cash rewards for acts such as scoring touchdowns and big hits,[135] although Campbell has never actually donated to the University of Miami or its athletics department.

He was playing players because they barely had enough money to eat.  350 lbs men can't live on 3 normal sized meals per day.

Nope.....almost every D1 football program has "training table" for the players. All you can eat, special food, nutritionists, special diets, supplements, etc.

Miami was on the tail end of one of the biggest and winningest runs in college football history when he was there.  I find it hard to believe he had to subsist off of a few packets of Easy Mac each day.

Even donald trump was broke in the nineties. Don't mean he wasn't connected. The rock dad may have been an asshole, but he was close to his samoan side. His maternal grandfather was a wrestler, his cousins yokazuna, and rikishi were also wwf superstars. The rock had all the inn's with the wwf.

direct from wiki
Along with his father and grandfather, several members of Johnson's family are current and former professional wrestlers, including his uncles, the Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika Anoa'i) and cousins, such as Manu, Yokozuna, Rikishi, Rosey, and Umaga.[19] When he declared his intention to join the family business, his father resisted, but agreed to train his son himself, warning him that he would not go easy on him.[18] With help from veteran wrestler Pat Patterson, Johnson had several tryout matches with the WWF in 1996; he defeated The Brooklyn Brawler at a house show under his real name, Dwayne Johnson,[24] and lost the others to Chris Candido and Owen Hart.[19] Impressed by his talent and charisma, Johnson was signed to a contract after wrestling at Jerry Lawler's United States Wrestling Association, where he wrestled under the ring name "Flex Kavana".[5] While there, he won the USWA World Tag Team Championship twice with Bart Sawyer in the summer of 1996.

They do now.  I'm not sure what it was like 20 years ago.  College football has grown like crazy since then.

That's tops in my book.

Well regardless of which way you look at it. It's all paper money. You're all being played for suckers by the Federal Reserve.

The NCAA officially adopted rules and regulations on "Training Table Meals" in 1991. The practice dates back to the early 1900's at schools like Yale. If you don't think college football was big 20 years ago, you're sorely mistaken.

Didn't say it wasn't big.  Said it has grown like crazy since then, specifically money wise.  In 1991, the SEC divided up 20.6 million in rev.  In 2010, that number was 220 million.

BWAHAHAHA.  Bullshit, scholarship athletes have no issues eating.  The school provides the football players plenty of food.  They all get cafeteria passes with unlimited access to all food.  They all have coaches and Personal Trainers and dieticians.  College football is a multi billion dollar industry and colleges makes millions and millions and make sure their players are up to par.  Miami especially took care of it's athletes in many legal and illegal ways.

LOLOLOL SO TRUE.  COLLEGE ATHLETES ARE SOME OF THE MOST PAMPERED AMERICANS, especially when their treatment is compared with their worth as human beings.  The dining halls and facilities, the pharma grade hormones and steroid cocktail injected by sycophantic overzealous assistants.  All for free

I remember years ago before The Rock really got famous he did a candid interview where he talked about living in a 1 bedroom apartment with his mom, living on bologna sandwiches day in and day out.

In college he said he couldn't afford a mattress so he found one in a dumpster and slept on it.  He didn't have enough money to live on so he ate macaroni and cheese every day.

The guy is a great success story.

What a horrible story. He had nothing and through perseverance he made.himself into a success? But, but how can a poor person become successful? Think about that

Someone pull up some pictures of him in 1995. The dude has been on the gas since high school. And he hasn't missed any meals. Fucking clown. Always had money for that cycle and was able to eat 3000 to 4500 cals a day.

His dad was more muscular than him and it wasn't because of genetics. Dude has been on the bean since jumpstreet and taught his son everything he knows
