I dont even know what half of those are except hammer strength. Ive probably used them, just never paid attention to the brand name of the machines. Its not like buying clothes or sneakers. lol

I am not going to walk up to another gym goer and be like, "yo brotha, i just used a piece of the precor workout. Bet no one else has used one"

Add a bench for number 4 and you have everything you need. I guess I could use the 220lbs dumbbells for a rolling on the floor exercise. Sitting in a machine is for lazy fucks. I watch machine guys go from machine to machine sitting in all of them.

As mentioned no. It closed in the late 70's, and Bob Zuver, the fellow that owned it tried his hand at a few regular gyms that closed in the early 80's. A fellow that lifted there mentioned that Zuver was involved in the early WSM contests and when Franco Columbu broke his leg, and sued everyone, Zuver was included. After that Bob just wanted retire and be left alone.

Thanks for sharing the stories & photos , Funk51 & BB.
This place looks like the machine room of a submarine (in a good sense). Too bad that no one was found to take over this special place.

+ Kraftwerk (that brand is for very heavy lifting and they last forever, also as mentioned before Hammer is OK...

PS. I've seen some "machines" that use air pressure as a resistance! WTF?! And yes i tried those and they are BS.

Precor for treads and ellipticals...Concept2 for the cardio machines (rower and skierg) that I actually use.  Title for heavy bags, Twins for gloves. I  have a serious hard on for some Rogue bumpers and a Rogue yoke to add to my Prowler.   I think my beer kegs I throw around were held Bud Lite....use whatever kettlebells and med balls I can find cheap.  No preference for the playsand I use to fill bags.

Looking for some really big rocks to throw around the yard...I guess God or Jeebus made those?

machines have there place, the knock on machines came from a lot of gym owners who didn't want to equip their gyms with the latest equipment . it was a question of economics. vince gironda was one of the biggest protestors back in the day. what good gym doesn't have a lat machine ONE OF THE MOST VESATILE PIECES OF EQUIPMENT EVER> >:( >:( >:( >:(

Given all the modern technology & biomechanics, it's interesting to notice that many "old" machines are way more robust & effective than their modern versions, build with lightweight frames & plastic crap.

Over 3600 bucks for a squat machine? You can buy a power rack, olympic barbell, adjustable bench and some other accessoires for that money and train every muscle.
