"Pro Bodybuilding Weekly" continues its look ahead to the upcoming contest season with special guest Gustavo Badell. The former Ironman champ and two-time Olympia bronze medalist discusses the upcoming events, and shares his thoughts on several of his competitive rivals. Monday's broadcast also included a visit with "Super-Promoter" Jim Lorimer with an early preview of his 20th Arnold Classic. PBW's weekly "Pep Talk" segment, with Larry Pepe, features 2007 Europa runner-up Will Harris as he looks to crash the party at the Ironman.

I'm betting Will Harris actually places higher than Gustavo sometime in 2008. Harris was that good last year, and Gustavo will probably never regain his shape of 2-3 years ago.

The question is whether Gustavo Badell can make the top three at the Ironman, before we go to the Arnold Classic. With Phil Heath, Toney Freeman, David Henry, Will Harris and a few others, making the Ironman a very deep show, can Gustavo retain his physique from the past.
As for Jim Lorimer, the most successful promoter in the sport of bodybuilding, with over 120,000 people now for 30+ different events, it is nice to see him on the show too.

I tip Gustavo breaking into the top three at the IRONMAN, he's had good early season form in the last few years.
I'm looking forward to hearing from Badell, is he going back to what what worked and made him successful?, remembering a Gustavo reminiscent of 2004/5 fears no pro bodybuilder- Ronnie included.

If you go by the rankings, he's the man to beat. He's beaten everyone in the top echelon in the last 3 years.

Dont expect to beat everyone in 3 years.
What about muscle maturity? what about time?
it's like old wine. the more time you have, better you look.
He's not a great bodybuilder.
He's not ready.
I've been to the Olympia FIVE times. that's tremendous.
I'm 25 pounds heavier and he is taller. He gonna look good, but he'll look like a middleweight (or lightheavy) next to tme.
He's smaller than me.
To be honest, what I see... the guy, he has great potential, but he needs time. This is not basketball. You a good athlete, you can be the star in 1-2 years. Bodybuilding is about time. People want to see beef - best size. He need time to get this size.
It's not just 2-3 good bodyparts. He has to be complete."

Gustavo is awesome but evidently he hasn't seen Phil's pictures. Phil placed right behind him at the Arnold and could have beaten him especially in the prejudging. Phil with an extra 15 lbs from last year Gustavo better bring 100% and Cell-Tech Hardcore of course. ;D

I have meet Gustavo a couple times, once while on vacaction in Puerto Rico. He has always been very nice. He was with his family and he stoped and took pics and talked for a couple mintues. I think he is just misunderstood.

Hmmm, didn't Flex win his first four pro shows, and Phil win his first 2? Both beat a lot of dudes right out of the gate, Gustavo didn't. He was a no name doing Flex Wheeler impersonations for MuscleMag.
