I beg to differ. General consensus among competitors themselves(!!!) was that Mentzer should have won.

Ah, you've been watching John Little too much. He still trying to revise history by making out that Mentzer won while the evidence proves why he didn't. Little has a hard on for Mentzer which makes me suspect the 2 were once lovers. Mentzer was gay after all. Every vid John does on hit is about Mentzer but he fails to show any actual evidence of hit working. He's got a new vid out now about the 1980 olympia from mentzer's point of view.
As any of us sensible ones know that Mentzer played the victim after the 1980 olympia. He really thought he was going to win that one, lol. He couldnt even beat Zane so to think he was ever going to win against Arnold was nothing but a delusion and Mentzer did love his delusions. He really thought he was a legend in his own head while, back in the real world, he was a has been that never was. This whole conspiracy of the 1980 olympia was conjured up by Mentzer years after the contest had taken place and it goes on thanks to the likes of scam men John Heart and John Little. Gotta keep Mentzer relevant somehow even when HD hit has failed to deliver.
Mentzer claimed the the judges were all good friends with Arnold. Not true. Most were associates but not best buddies. Besides, a lot of the contenders were friends of the judges as well. Even Mentzer knew a lot of them. To say it was a fix is a fallacy. The score sheets proves this. Arnold just barely made it to the top spot. It was very close between the top 3.
The problem with mentzer is just because he won a so called perfect score at the universe did not mean he had a perfect body but mentzer, in his ever growing delusional mind, was convinced he did. When he came 5th in the 1980 olympia it did not shatter his delusion. In fact, it only strengthen his insane mind. He was now convinced Weider and the judges were against him so they "fixed" the contest for Arnold to win. Never-ending the fact that Mentzer was in poor shape. A deflated chest, a fat ass, small arms, undeveloped back, narrow shoulders, protruding gut, poor posing (he kept relaxing mid pose) these flaws are NOT going to win him an Olympia. That's a fact.
Mentzer was a WEAK man. He was being paid by Weider 200,000 a year to write articles for him. Not bad money for writing a load of bs in a muscle mag. But no, Mentzer left that as well. He could've just accepted the fact he was never going to be Mr Olympia and just settle making good money writing for Weider. No big deal.
But no. Mentzer left. Spent his money in poor investments, like buying second hand TV equipment I believe, not to mention his drug habits. He soon found himself destitute, homeless, broke, girlfriend leaving him, instutionalised a few times, arrested etc. Some role model. The guy was a complete loon.
But John Little likes to skip all these facts and tries too hard in revising history making Mentzer the hero and the rest as villains. Mentzer should be forgotten. He was a liar and a crook. Making out he only trained 3 hours a week while, in fact, he was doing w0 to 25 sets bodypart in his workouts. Just go and ask John Terrilli who trained with Mentzer. It certainly was not low volume.
Best stop listening to Mentzer worshippers like John Little. That guy was always putting his name on scam training books like body of science and power factor. All useless and it certainly didn't do Little any favours as he is...Little.
