they are called "lat shrugs", i dont do them but they can be useful for stretching the back out. like the DC "extreme stretching", supposedly helps with looseing the fascia.

He would also do them at the end of his back workout.

Who said anything about "science?"  It's a finishing stretching and resistence exercise.  He did lots of other exercises for back as well.  Pros' specific bodypart-development are relative to their genetics not their training, because they already know how to train them and are consuming the right nutrients and drugs.  You are retarded if you think that a certain pro would have a better or worse bodypart based on a clip you see on youtube lol.  As if of all the experts Nasser knew too bad he didn't have someone like "mesomorph" to tell him how to improve his back  ::)

2. over complicates the simple concept of training.....
3. nasser back was not up to par with the rest of him.... hence why i cant see how all this is rekevant to his back as he lacked a basic good back for a pro....

I think his back detail would have looked better had he trained like Dorian, Ronnie, Shawn, or even Flex, Chris Cormier and Kevin...

Actually they did train pretty similar.  Like I said that was just a finishing exercise Nasser did and otherwise he'd do all the other basics with full RM.

not only that,,, "full range of motion" is  another  myth , crap... keep the tension always , do not fully contract nor stretch  the worked  muscle during a rep....
