Is Rock Dead? Definitive Rock Albums!
« on: February 14, 2011, 04:41:50 PM »
Back in the 90's rock music was a fucking RELIGION. It was just powerful and there was a strong cult of people following it. The music was inspirational and epic. The lifestyle was drugs, pussy and loud music to empower yourself and feel like a God.

Nowadays rock music just seems like it sucks dick. It's like a wild bull that got castrated and beaten into submission, now it is hiding in the corner, afraid.

I don't know what happened. Maybe the CIA infiltrated the rock music scene and ruined it from the inside out? Maybe people these days just have no balls and can't make good songs? Maybe society has drifted into a more passive and narcisistic state, and people are too self-centered to keep the movement alive?

Whatever it is, rock music fucking sucks right now.

There is some cool shit in the Metal world right now. Some cool death metal and speed metal. But besides that it's shit.

It`s not dead, it`s just so spread out that no one can agree on shit.

All the people that listened to good music 20 years ago, still do. It`s just instead of listening to five or six different bands it`s spread across 300-400.

Music taste is too divided these days it`s that simple there`s still loads of good bands, just nothing to unite us.

You got a point. The internet has caused this.

Back in the 90's they just broadcasted music on TV and radio and that's how it became popular. So everyone was following the same bands.

Nowadays people go online and find exactly what they are looking for. And people are listening to obscure shit that barely anyone has heard of.

It's more of an idividual thing now, instead of a mass cult like it used to be. Which sucks in my opinion.

Meh it sucks but it``s hardly worth complaining about. Music has become pure, if not entirely pointless.

... then I'd suggest they download some Stones, Led Zep, and old Aerosmith for further reference.

 70's era is good too.

But I personally like the late 80's/early 90's best. And the 60's. These two time periods were the climax eras of rock creativity in my opinion.

I never liked Led Zep or The Stones. Aerosmith rules though.

That might be true. The internet REALLY changed things a lot. Nowadays it's all about local bands and obscure experimental shit. Which could be cool, but i'm just not seeing much good coming from it.

Just straight hard rock?

Led Zeppelin- Volume 4, but 2 could take it's place if you had too.

Sabbath- Master of Reality (any of the first 4-5, but that's my top chioce).

Aerosmith- Toys in the attic.

----------

Just because it popped into my head, if I had to do this with rap albums-

Sugar Hill Gang .

BDP- Criminally Minded.

NWA- Straight out of Compton.

This is as dead as rock has been in my 42 years. You shouldn't have to search so hard to find decent music. Everything is way too attached to a trend these days.

What a bullshit myth. Theres way the fuck more music being made now than there ever was. It`s just that there`s no labels shoving it down your throat. If you look around there is plenty of music out there.

The battle has been won, only idiot buy cd`s. Music is basically free at this point. The only problem now is over saturation, once the labels completely die, it`ll be a much cleaner industry.

Just straight hard rock?

Whatever you thought best represented rock n roll. For instance, my next aliens were getting these three:

Judas Priest: British Steel
Iron Maiden: The Number of the Beast
Metallica: Master of Puppets

I realize this might confuse the first aliens, but my goal is to create a rock 'n' roll dialogue between the two groups.
