Why do some pros lie?
« on: March 24, 2006, 04:46:03 PM »
Here is a post that was recently deleted, and I see no reason why it should have been.   ???

do u ever wonder why pros feel the need to blatantly lie...

"eg
the first time i walked into the gym i benched 315... wjen i was 15 yrs ago...
what bullshit....
or i was 240 naturally... before i started training...
my arms were 19 inches before i started trainin???

the funny thing is that if you believed some of these clowns you'd believe that they could all bench 650, squat 800, pull 550 lb. barbell rows, have Masters degrees in nuclear physics, benched 405 at age 13 the first time in the gym are 5'8" 320 lbs. and 5 percent BF in the offseason and make 10 figures anually. ::)

Because my friend, 95% of BB's are ego maniacs. Also the same reason I tell people my arms are 17 1/2 when they are 17 and my weight is 215 when its 205 8)

i think that part of it is that people expect pro bodybuilders to be superhuman because of the way the look so they inflate lifts to go along with this, i mean how exciting does it sound for a pro to say, "i don't even do barbell benches and squats, i use machines for the majority of my training and i use a shitload of different drugs".

is that legit?

didnt he start training at 15? - (the pic of him outside his farm aged 15)

315 is bullshit for the first timein gym

ive seen people hit 225 in a few months - for a rep only.

He started bodybuilding at age 18.  There are pics of him at that age and he was pretty big.

Guys, seriously.  They're professional athletes.  If they were caught in a lie, they'd lose their lucrative endorsement deals.   I talk to this pro everyday who got a $4.3 MILLION dollar deal from a company.   And he's not even a top guy.

If you think they'd screw up that kinda money by doing drugs, telling lies, or insulting fans, then you're just crazy.

Hey....if you train for 30 years & become a mediocre 3rd tier pro.....

you should make 4.3 million too

 ;)

but when they come off the juice...
they look like the walkin dead....
same reason fake plates are used for photo shoots... t try to make out as if they are way beyond mere mortals....
then why u buy the trainin videos.. u see that is quite not the case... barring maybe coleman.. despite the fact that yes he is damn strong but he is like 300lb so he should be moving those weights and more...
actually his is the only video ive watched with decent weight been lifted.. him and levrone....
if u benched 300lb when u first walked into a gym first try  ::)...
after 15 yrs of trainin you should be benchin 600 or 700... ::)
choice is an illusion

I just find it hilarious that 240 had a meltdown on this board on December 5 at 8:18PM, deleted his account and said he was done with getbig for good, and then was posting again under a new account before 8:30PM that same night lol.

Pros lie for the same reason alomost EVERY Joe Blow or Al Bundy lies about their athletic prowess.
Being a pro more tend to hear it, give it a tad of serious thought before the realize it is was BS.
What is ironic is that for all the pros we crack on, Ronnie is pretty legit with his size and wts lfted in the gym claims, which are incredible and would seem like pure BS for any other guy....except in Ronnie Colemans case , they seem "normal".

I believe some pros were genetic freaks before drugs but most are just hyper responders to steroids....

Look at mass construction.. Before juice flex was fucking TINY..... Good structure yes.... Nice muscle shape. but fact is without the juice he would have just been some other ripped black dude. He was hailed as having some of the best genetics ever yet without steroids he would have been a bean pole.

In my mind crazy genetics are those who are not just Solly hyper responder to big doses of juice and growth. These are dudes that are obviously great responders to drugs but posses great shape size and condition without juice to begin with

coleman life are ok...

like charles glass said...
he is 300 lbs when u take that into consideration... he lifts are good not.... out of the world...
and anybody who trains hard will know that...coleman benches 500 for 4...
i bench 374.. im not 200lb and im natural
coleman deads 800
i dead 500
...and etc etc...

anyway ike i said aside from him and levrone... nobody else lifts anythng that impresses me...
so if jay culter did indeed bench 315 on his first gym visit... : ::)
next time he makes a video i would like to see how far he has progressed in oundage from benchin 315 on his first try... ::)

actually there's a HUGE difference between your 335 for 4 reps and Colmans 500 for 4 and his 800 DL and your 500, it doesn't sound like it but when you're at your maximum it's huge.

that's like saying that 350 lb. powerliftrers who have been training for 25-30 years should be benching 3000lbs. and squatting 5000, the human body has it's limits and i doubt even with juice that you would ever hit 550 for a single on the bench like Coleman does.

And as soon as a pro strays from this bizarre lifestyle to enjoy himself/herself theyre considerred 'not serious' 'on the way out' etc.

pfffffffffffft to that i say
