"i have seen guys benchin 6 plates and a half a side... 8 reps"

6 plates (6 x 45 = 270 lbs), each side (270 lbs x 2 = 540 lbs), plus two half plates (25 x 2 = 50 lbs... + 540 = 590 lbs), plus the bar (590 lbs + 45 lbs = 635 lbs)... which is 635 lbs x 8 ...not very believable.

But what if Mesomorph78 works out in one of those gyms that only have 15 kg plates. My own gym (in Dublin, Ireland) has lots of 15 kg plates that are the same size as regular 45 lb plates, just a little thinner. I've been in several Gyms here in Ireland (and in Spain also) where the 15 kg plates are the only large plates.

A 15 kg plate is only 33 lbs, and it's pretty easy to confuse them as most European manufacturers only print the kilogram denomination on the plate.

That would bring Mesomorph78's claim down from 635 lbs to a more reasonable 491 lbs x 8... or even 485 lbs x 8 if the "half" plates are actually 10 kg (22 lb) plates.

Something to think about....

take someone better than me... multiply my training yrs by 3. and add 100 to 150 lbs to him....
and add steroids...
and you think a six plate bench is inconcievable....
you joker... why because coleman and them lot cant bench it... so u base ur potential on what coleman and culter does....
i base my potential on time as in... when i cant do it anymore or when im dead.. thats when i max out.... not numbers.. put up by some other guy

Don't be so cynical about what is possible. Isaac Nesser was known to bench press 800 pounds for reps, but only in his basement. He was also natural and was featured in the Guiness Book of World Records. Open your mind to new possiblities.

Isn't he the guy featured in Guiness for having the world's largest arms?

Isaac Nesser is a bullshit artist. He claims he benches over 900 pounds without a shirt, but he won't do it in competition because he "doesn't have anything to prove." Plus there's no mention of him in the Guiness Book of World Records at all.

What edition of the Guiness book do you have? Isaac's record was surpassed by a pig farmer with 30-inch muscular arms! Nesser really could lift that much, but people would have accused him of using steroids if he had, and he had too much integrity to use and gain 5-10% on his lifts.

This is a great thread.....lololol
Some guys are so "uninformed" about numbers, records, weights in general......and are so full of shit........that the numbers they spout off are not even close to reality.....and THEY don't even realize this. Did that make sense?
I have been lucky enough to compete in competitive powerlifting for nearly 20 years....(The former ADFPA) currently USAPL. I have been ranked top 5 in the world (by total) in my wt class (242). My point.....I have seen A LOT! Over the years, I have met and become friends with MANY world record holders, in many weight classes and several federations. I have also been lucky enough to train with several of these lifters.......and watch many of these lifters train. I have trained with, competed with and I am friends with Bill Gillespie (current World Record holder in the bench press (800) Masters division (40-45) 308 lb class. One of my very best friends, Todd Scott owned Sleek Physique in Moses Lake, Wa. A  lifter by the name of Ryan Kennelly trained at Sleek Physique. Ryan has bench pressed 700+ in 20 plus competitions. Ryan was also the 1st human to officially bench press 800 in competition. Up until recently Ryan held the 308lb class world record.....903. In 2002, I was training for the USAPL Oregon St and was fortunate enough to train in the same gym (Redmond, Wa) as Jeff Magruder. For many years, Jeff held the Open world bench record in the 242lb class.....639. This was way before the 2 and 3 ply shirts came into play. My entire point.......I have been there, done that........and have just about seen it all. NOBODY......benches more RAW than Ryan Kennelly or Scott Mendelson (current world record holder.....1008) At his best, I have seen Ryan bench 600x4 or 5 RAW. This is basically the strongest bench press SPECIALIST in history. This is what these guys do FOR A LIVING. They don't work a 9-5 shift, drive to the gym and work up to 635x8. Shit.............anyone SQUATTING 635x8 would be considered world class.....atleast in the USAPL.
Before anyone starts "spitting out" these outraqeous numbers, please....do your home work.

exactly my point dude, it's funny how many monster benchers there are around who used to bench 700 "back in the day" before i injured my shoulder, had kids, got married, cut myself shaving, lost an arm in a work accident, hahahaha, there must have been something in the water "back in the day" because there were so many strong dudes back then.

Anyone who benches 600+ for reps is a serious elite powerlifter. I don't care how gifted you are in strength, this is a tremendous achievement. Nobody who "just lifts" achieves this. To be all humble about it and not wanting any formal recognition is just contradictory. If that is indeed your stance about it, why even mention it in the first place? Why then, do some guys who won't prove these feats of strength, feel the need to make a web site about it?

If looks like bullshit, and walks like bullshit...

I can certainly understand that you are skeptical. It is wise to be skeptical! But given his tremendous size and many years of lifting, I don't think his claims are that outrageous. I have met many people who have acquaintances or family members in other states who possess unbelievable size and strength. He is probably just one of those people.

Many people don't want huge amounts of attention and that is why they just do these monster lifts in the gym and keep to themselves. They often don't compete because they are far stronger than most natural athletes and would be accused of using steroids. And if they competed in nontested competitions they would probably be accused of using drugs.
