Title: Didn't go to the gym for a month
Post by: Swlabr on January 15, 2012, 06:53:42 AM
Lost A LOT of strength. I squatted 315 for 25 before I went home for the holidays, struggled with 315 for 5 yesterday. Feels bad, man. :( On the upside, though, I never missed an injection in that one month period!

Any of you guys experienced this shit? How long until your strength came back?

It usualy takes me twice as much time to get my strength back. Month off, two months to get back.

Ah it was only 100 mg tren and 50 mg test prop EOD, no biggie. I got a lot leaner and bigger, so I guess it wasn't a waste of gear.

Oh I should mention I also used gh at 5 iu/day... lol

I think Stavios said his legs got a lot bigger from higher reps, so I tried it, and it worked for me too. I try to be in the 20+ rep range on everything with legs now.

You dont actually need to lift to make muscle gain on tren. You won't make the maximum gains you could, but you will make gains.

Note: all drugs.

Usually for me, for short to medium breaks, 1/2 the length of the break is spent getting back to pre-break levels. So, for a month, 2 weeks.

I've been slacking for the last couple of weeks due to a shoulder injury and other stuff. I go once a week do a little pump workout. If it wasn't for the gear (which i've kept consistent) i would look like i've never lifted a day in my life. I'm giving it a couple weeks more. After that im lifting no matter what.

After a long lay off, I find leg strength comes back quicker than other body parts.

You might be surprised how many you get with 315 the next work out.

I did 315x8 before the 405x6, had way more in me but I was set on getting the 405. Did 330x15 the week before, though!

if you train for endurance if you take time off you will lose your endurance / strength a lot faster vs if you just trained for strength in the 3-5 rep range.

If I take a layoff like that (or longer) I have to be real careful getting back into the groove. I remember my body aching and feeling nauseous for 2 days after going back in like I had never stopped.

I've learned my lesson.

Gotta just keep on keepin' on. If you are forced to take a break, go back like a noob and take it EZ. Strength comes back fairly quick.

As far as the injects, I would probably keep something going during the break just so I dont get lethargic or depressed...

Everyone is different.

I tend to agree, I got back to my max deadlift within a week, took me a bit longer to get the high rep squats back.

you should gain that back in 3-5 weeks tops that a lot of just motor skill loss to not all actually contractile strength I drink a lot so a very used to quiting and gaining back i usually use a full body work out the first week or to. The go back to normal training imo fullbodyworkouts build back previous strength and muscle mass fastest i.e the colorado experiment

This.

Never used gear, but I go nuts if I don't train for even a couple of days.

Sometimes I run for two or three weeks straight, even after a night of drinking.

I would be climbing the walls.

there's a 20 year old guy in my gym who maxes squats every day ass to the grass. he can squat 325lbs ass to the grass 3 reps for 7-10 sets on a good day with no equipment and butter smooth.
It's some sort of bulgarian squat program. It wen't from 265lbs for 3 reps into 315 within weeks when he did that program.
He sayes that he only does this because he wants more jumping power in his parkour life style and only prety much trains leggs in the winter and obtains his parkour skills and vica versa in the summer.

He looks like a white boy skateboarder, sits between sets, jokes around with me and playes angry birds in between and then squats again, so it could be possible sawlbr isn't bullshiting.

but 315 for 25 reps atg... kind of suspicious... maby he just is a beast but he hasn't veryfied it so I have a neutral stand here.

Correct. I've noticed the same. Two weeks for a month off with not much difference in size either.

I like taking a month off or slightly more to travel, and I enjoy the break.
But I do try and eat relatively healthy, keep the calories up and have meals with moderate protein and stay active with lots of walking etc, so get back lean and fit as well.

I'm not lying, and maybe it makes more sense when I say that I only go to parallel. Squatting is my strong point anyway, my bench is shit for example, I've always had naturally big legs and it's a lift I enjoy doing so I usually go all-out.

I only go to parallel, dude. I doubt I'd get 10 with 315 if I went all the way down.

Ass to grass may not be the best way to go if you're a taller fella

Yeah ass to grass is very hard for me personally. I'm 6 ft. and ass to grass my max weight for 4 sets of 12-15 is 185 lbs. Parallel is much easier and I bring it up to around 225 for the same sets and reps. Legs are 26"

Ever wonder how on the boards everyone reps out 3 plates (or more) squats 4-5 plates, deads 5-6  ::)...yet in real life i have only seen ONE person with those numbers. The kid is 1'68 and weights 107kg lean.

haha, yes Ive wondered that too and thought myself  "Am I the only one on the board who squats 2 plates for 10?"  ;D :D

Lost A LOT of strength. I squatted 315 for 25 before I went home for the holidays, struggled with 315 for 5 yesterday. Feels bad, man. :( On the upside, though, I never missed an injection in that one month period!

Any of you guys experienced this shit? How long until your strength came back?

wow an 80% strength loss

i doubt you will recover

I squat exactly that with the same number of reps.

Squatting is bullshit. IT really is a crap excercise for a bodybuilder and a huge waste of time and energy. All these guys who squat all the time week in week out end up with huge asses and wide waistes along the way. Squatting doesn't do shit for my hamstrings, the next day my ass is sore as hell..

I remember when i was mocked for repping out 200lbs on the incline @165lb bw. Then again i rarely see people repping out more than 2 plates on the incline and they fore sure weight more than i do. Gotta love laptop strongman.

this x1000. I mean shit, I work my ass off just doing 225lbs deep squats for 10-12 reps and my legs feel like jelly after.

then an 18 year old claims 315 for 25??? wtf

I believe it. your body is very sensitive to drugs at a young age because the nervious system is still developing, and swlab is on tren I recall...forget about it.  :D Hell  I went from incline benching 175 to 3 reps to 225 for 15 reps in a one year period. My buddy was on the same drugs as me, he was older and MUCH stronger naturally but I responded to drugs better and got stronger than him- swalb doesnt seem like a cat to lie about his numbers- it's a bitch move to your iron brothers.

I'm not saying he is lying, I'm just interested in seeing his form. I see people in person claim all sorts of squat numbers but as soon as I see them do it, they go down 1/4 of the way. But who knows, maybe he is just really good at squats.

And I feel like nearly all my lifts have gone up a ton since a year and a half ago pre-steroids. The one lift that didn't change that much for me is squats. Sure it improved, but not like DB incline and flat presses have. Also, back pulldowns havent improved much either. It's weird, it all depends on the lift

at my old gym, I saw guys squatting three plates and going down a few inches. I would be twice their size and squat next to them with only 2 plates and much better form. They had that look like they were superior to me because they used more weight on the bar.

Shit,we have a clown at my gym who barely bends his knees with 495 and gets one shaky 1/8 of an inch rep, then walks around like he`s the shit.

I just shake my head and laugh......he couldn`t get 10 good reps with 185 if he went deep.

x2. My gym doesn't have a hack squat machine so I really have limited options as far as leg exercises go. The only three pressing movements I can do there are squats, leg press, and front squats. I try to do all three per workout

Taking off a month off from training shouldn't impact strength like that....doesn't me.   I actually come back stronger.

At the age of 18 I weighed 210 pretty lean and benched 315 for 5 reps without a drop of steroids in my body, the only supplement i took was creatine, swabr is an idiot once he comes off all those steroids at such a young age he is going to look like garbage.

Lol, I will freely admit I'm all drugs. I never said I was anything special, and I definitely don't think I am. Once I come off, I'll be a skinny weak little bitch, that's why I'm never coming off. ;)
