Coke can take you over - if you're weak.  And for those who say "it's a disease", having a genetic predisposition to said disease is a weakness, e.g., poor genes.

I haven't done coke, but I don't need to have done it to talk about it in detail with a great deal of accuracy.  I know it's the kind of drug you Jones for.  Still, if you're strong and disciplined enough, you can be rational and tell yourself you won't do it again.  When I went to the casino in my life, I would always go with my ID and $20 and nothing else.  If I lost the $20, I would go home and end it there.  I am a logical enough person to know if something is bad for me if I do it again and again.  I am such an incredibly rigidly logical person that there is NO WAY I would become addicted to coke.  If I wanted to do it, I would buy a half gram and go to the club with only my ID and no money - during the comedown, if I wanted more - oh well.  The mentally strong can overcome that.

I'm not here to be politically correct about things.  I'll say it again, if you get addicted to coke, or anything for that matter, you are either weak, ignorant, or not very intelligent.  Even with heroin, only 10% of users can be properly classed as addicts.

I'm such a logical thinker that it even transcends my emotions to some degree.  I will not fall in love with a girl if I know she is bad news.  The rational part of me just won't let me.  My mom says it makes me cold or robotic, but it is indeed the greatest gift in my opinion.

I'm up for giving coke a try though.  The Arnold would be a good time for that and if it wasn't for your lunatic government maybe I would.

Coke isnt hard to get away from, comedowns are easily beat with xanax. Now getting out of hand with opiated....forget about it...they are an 800lb gorilla in no time at all. Coke never did it for me, its fun and all but i always and i mean always get the point were i have had enough. As for percs/oc/vicoden...i can never touch them again lol.

Glad all that shit is in the past from being a partying kid. Stuff can take its toll if your not careful and have no will power. I seen many friends get lost in that world and never get out.

Remember, if you debate with me, you're debating with science.  Not to say that makes me right (I certainly could be wrong), but I always have the research to back my side (anecdotal evidence or "reefer madness" debating tactics are useless).  Although my reference for heroin is from a 30 year old study, it's still reality that responsible drug use is the rule, not the exception.  The only reason why you think otherwise is because when a person becomes addicted to coke, especially somebody close to you, it is easy to make inaccurate generalizations.

Since I am a big fan of psychology and its jargon, read up on something called "the availability heuristic":

It explains why so many people commit the fallacy of assuming most coke users are addicts.  The reality is, coke users are your doctors and teachers, your lawyers and bankers, and the nice guy living next door.  Believe me, I'm exactly the type of guy who could use coke on a regular and responsible basis and you would never know.  I'm too intelligent to ever let a drug control me.  I am in control of my life, nothing is or ever will be in control of me.  I am certainly not the only one who can say that.

I didn't mean to say there everyone gets addicted to coke, I was referring to heroin as having a high addiction rate. I know several people who take cocaine fairly frequently and i wouldn't call any of them "addicts" but i can sure as hell say they are not better people because of it.

There's no way i'd say alcohol is more dangerous than cocaine as a substance. Alcohol obviously results in far more deaths, illnesses, and health problems but that's because society has deamed it as socially accepted which results in the majority of the population being drinkers. Alcohol is definately bad for you, far worse than pot (legalize it please  ) but most of its side effects come from prolonged use in moderate to high doses. Cocaine was used for several "health" purposes is the past such as weight loss and staying alert but if compare someone who has gotten drunk 4 days a week for a year to someone who has gotten high off coke 4 days a week for a year the coke user would be worse off.

It's true and I've seen it too.  I could go into stories, but where I live there are a lot of people addicted to coke.  It's due in part to the poor economy of Northern Ontario right now.

I have a pretty good idea of what the effects of cocaine are and it seems like the drug for me.  Pot makes me paranoid and I really hate that "sloshed" feeling of alcohol when it's sweating out of your face.  Ecstasy would be a good drug if not for the impurities - pure lovey dovey MDMA would be for me.  Coke purity is also usually in question.  I might give it a try and just do it for special occasions.  There's nothing at all wrong with kicking back every now and then like that.

Nothing wrong with moderate use.  Nobody would hate on these drugs if the people who used them responsibly (the majority of people) were open about their use instead of hiding it.

Also, for those of you who think any of what I said is bad, but are out drinking - get it out of your head now that alcohol isn't a drug.  It is most definitely a drug and one more dangerous than cocaine.

You do know that a coke comedown can make you anxious and paranoid, right?

I would say it's totally possible the rate of addiction has gone up in the past 30 years since purity has gone up, but I'm still confident that abuse is the minority.

You might say that nobody does their first line of blow expecting to be an addict - but people who have addictive personalities should probably not do it to begin with.  How many head strong people like me who set out to do it once and only once or rarely, later became addicted?  I think the types who become addicts are those who never seriously considered the can of worms they could be opening when they did their first line.  People like me know the risks and are strong enough to resist further temptation.  I firmly believe this is at least an accurate generalization - if not totally true for every specific type of person like me (e.g., smart with no addictive personality).

Do drugs ever make you a better person?  Serious question and I may not use drugs, but I'm open minded to responses about this.

I'd say as a general rule, most drugs don't make you a better person.
Some psychadelics may show you a different side of things; maybe unlock certain doors in your brain you hadn't entered before. But most drugs can turn out bad for people who aren't stubborn.

I have little experience with drugs but the second last time I smoked pot I got pretty paranoid but do think I started looking at myself in a different way.  I think part of the reason for its strong effects is that I've only ever smoked really strong stuff (like most of the stuff in Canada).  I would like to have a few more experiences with drugs for the sake of just that - experience.  I'm not the kind of person to just do a drug to party, but if it can truly make me look at myself in a different way and perform better in day to day life and NOT cause any damage, I would be up for it.  I would love to get an edge, but health is paramount to me.  What is quality of life without the health of both your body and your mind?

Coke is bad for your heart and cardiovascular system though, remember that.
No worse than anything else of course, and I'm sure in moderation it's fine.
Coke just has a nasty way of sneaking up on you.
My "friend" tried it the first time because he wanted the experience, and not die a crotchety old man that was bitter because he didn't enjoy his life.
Then it became a weekend habit.
Luckily, he stopped before it got out of hand, but thats only because of forethought, and being able to see where it was heading.

what Chris makes up for with genetics he severely lacks in work ethic. He could have beaten everybody in the sport had he decided to just go for it, but he never had the required dedication to get himself into his best condition and he suffered for it. Hes another "could have been Mr O" but from what ive seen, i dont think he will even come close to Phil Heath especially now. He should stay off the stage and on his mobile phone

Man I hope Chris makes a good comeback. He is utterly amazing and has the MOST AMAZING genetics in the sport. If only he committed himself to training properly, rather than partying in clubs till 3 am like he's done since he was in his 20s, if he applied himself 100% to training and everything, he would have won the O a couple times now. He has better genetics than any of the pros and if he came in 100%, he would be physically flawless. If Chris does the Colorado Pro, as shawn says, then he'll win the show and SMOKE PHIL HEATH and place top 5 at the O again, IF, he is committed 100%.

Don't get me wrong, Phil is amazing, but not as genetically gifted as Chris is 

The sad thing is, he has only been really committed a couple times in his career, like at the 2004 AC, where he should have beat Cutler

I just hope he doesn't look back when he's 50 and regret that he didn't commit himself when he could have done and think about what he could have achieved but didn;t.
