If according to Phil Heath bodybuilding is as big as ever, why do we have guys with piss poor genetics? Well, of the answer is that there is less quality but more quantity today, and that the ones with the better genetics either go and play a different sport with more money or go to a different Federation that rewards quality, size and shape over outright freaky mass. It seems that the guys with the better genetics go onto MuscleMania or just lift for fun.
Almost all the new guys coming up have terrible genetics and physiques. Just embarrassing.

Split from his wife that had(s) cancer, the Arnold debacle, and all the facebook posts. I would say this is a natural reaction. Phil's a smart dude but he has to learn how to leave his emotions at home because if I were Mr. O, I'd want to go back and forth with haters as well but you can no longer do that in his position. Hopefully he understands this. I think Phil want the fans to like him and he truly doesn't understand why the "haters" don't like him.

He's a product of our time---the time of the "cocky braggart who gets the attention". In today's world "humbleness" is looked down upon. Phil seems to be a personable person, knowledgeable and one of those guys you could talk "pop culture" with.
But, at the same time, he wants, or does want to project that baller/sports star/hip hop image.
And you know what, each Mr. O had their own personality. Ronnie was folksy and down the earth, Dorian was quiet and reserved, but had that stern look about him, and Haney was a mixture of both. Jay was, well Jay. Dex was just about his business.
Phil is not loud or boisterous, nor thug like. But as you said he gets too emotionally involved in this online/FB mess. He needs to learn to stay above the fray. Don't acknowledge the "haters" (the real ones), accept constructive criticism.

Just semantics then: full potential vs. "muscle maturity." Obviously, most aren't gonna be Olympia-caliber after 2-3 years in the gym. No idea how old he is, or how long he'd been training in those 'young' shots, but that's just a dude who hasn't fully developed yet.
By 29 ('07 Olympia), though, Wolf - perhaps still physically immature by bodybuilding standards - looked about as good as he ever will. Most would argue that was his best showing. Certainly hasn't improved much since.
Using bodybuilding's 'bigger/freakier/more-everything is better' standards, seems he's even regressed.

Elev8 is close to my gym and not that much bigger if it is at all. My step son does marketing for the Live Fit who is partners in that gym. We're going to try to work something out that will bring the two facilities and brands together. But they get a ton of publicity from the fitness industry.

I can see the women's physique division getting to the point where it's on the main stage and has a buzz but men and women's bikini belongs in the expo hall. Nobody is flying out to Vegas for those events. Bikini is a nice distraction I guess but doesn't belong on the main stage. Neither does the men's division
People fly out there for men's bodybuilding. Period. Folks go for the finals of the men's open and that's about it. That won't change anytime soon.
