Wait - is that hyperbole or did they design something like that?  Did they strap 2 Tsar Bombas together? 

The original design was 100 megatons. They scaled it back to 50 megatons. But when the Tsar Bombas test concluded the yield was actually 58 megatons. So it is possible the 100 megaton design would have been above that number if it was actually detonated.
