It has to be spot on....i've boxed muay thai for years and had a few fights outside the gym as a younger man and never been KO'd despite being hit all over the head and face....a light punch on the right spot can cause a KO, the punch has to disrupt the Reticular Formation in the brain stem to KO somebody, this isnt always as easy as it sounds....the best way to disrupt this area of the brain stem is to subject it to a twisting motion which is why jaw shots that spin the head work so well....but simply straight punching somebody despite the accuracy being there is often futile and the fight will be decided by whoever can take the most pain.
