First I wouldn't have thought of it as sexual..maybe because we regularly work out and are perplexed by 1/4 rep type people....

But it seems as though when the crowd laughed he realized it could have a sexual connotation and he seemed chagrined that those words came out of his mouth.

When I have seen him make other speeches I wonder if he even knows what he is saying or if he just reads and doesn't pay attention. This tends to confirm that. ....and that he began to pay attention when the crowd reacted.

How many speech writers does a president normally have? Doesn't seem like that one will last long.

I listened again.....I don't know...he seems like he's afraid he's going to get in trouble w/her. And then maybe he personally at that moment added that she outdoes him in push ups as well ...trying to bring it back to something non-sexual.

If it was unintentional and clueless to begin with it's better than him knowingly making it intentionally sexual...imo....but I realize others may feel differently. Either scenario seems like it would be embarrassing.

If there was nothing at all intended - all he would have had to say was that "Ellen accuses her of bad form" or "Half Push ups" etc etc etc

They knew damn well what the insinuation would be as evidenced by Obama's smirk and the crowds instant and loud reaction.

Well yes... I guess that makes sense that it was intentional from the speech writer at least. I still don't know if Obama realized what he said till it was too late though....he looks kind of scared/upset afterward.
