How many of these a day should one take?
When should it be taken?

I would personally take at least three a day (with meals....maybe morning, noon, & night).
-
I take 6.
-
I take the majority at night after a meal. Then it has all night to absorb while you're sleeping.
Of course I'm not a doctor.

Twinlab?
General assumptions are 180 EPA, 120 DHA per 1000mg cap ~ that's quite common in the industry, and basically we want about 6g/day (6 caps). So you're in the 4-5 cap range/day.
Take them anytime - pref w/ food. If you have burp issues, then try at night or keeping them in the freezer. If you're taking vit. e, then include it too.

What is gained from these fish oils?

I've been taking Nature's Bounty Fish Oil and put them in the freezer.
They're like rocks now which isn't good (fish oil shouldn't totally freeze solid like Princess L said on another thread) but I'm taking them anyway.
Normally I go with Carlson's liquid fish oil.

I guess I wouldn't be too terribly concerned :-\ That brand is mfg'd under USP conditions and it passed Consumer Labs test (for what it's worth). Fish oil can vary significantly by batch, type of fish, time of year harvested, etc.

Anyone who is really concerned with toxicity and can afford the "elite" stuff, can use this resource.
