Italian kidnaps ex-girlfriend to get ironing done

Reuters - An Italian man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from a pub, taking her home and forcing her to iron his clothes and wash the dishes, police said.
The 43-year-old man dragged the woman out of a pub in the port city of Genoa, shoved her into a car and took her to his home where he made her iron and wash dishes after threatening her, they said.
Police arrived at his house after being tipped off by a friend of the woman who watched the scene at the pub.
The man, who was apparently furious at his ex-girlfriend for leaving him, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, police said.

I know a couple of Italian girls that spent some time here (Belgium) and they told me they were surprised how respectful they got treated here by men. In Italy they are treated more like a piece of meat who should not open her mouth too much.
Worst of all are Turkish guys though.

One day I was shopping and saw a gal I had gone to high school with in the store. She said she had recently gotten a divorce. She said she had dated this Italian man and he was fabulous. They got married and went to Italy to visit his family etc... When they got home he started treating her like dirt. He told her it was because she didn't put the clothes in his suitcase away or some weird thing like that. I guess he was so mean that she sought the divorce. I would assume they are not all like that.
Meanwhile why doesn't the nerd in the article get a maid instead of kidnapping someone ::)

Don't start giving men ideas. A maid and the occasional 'professional' would be much less expensive than marriage. :)

More than likely the woman fell even deeper in love with the man. Some women don't like being treated well.

what I thinking? I posted this on this board in order to avoid certain comments i felt would be inevitable if posted on 'General'. Glad I didn't post it there. I could just imagine the comments that would follow. ::) Maybe too I should have simply omitted any references to his nationality and seen what the responses would have been like.

Actually it quite more common than you think. In latin American countries it is quite common than the men will abuse their wives g'fs over something as trivial as a uncooked tortilla. Then it transfer over here...
