oh brother the cops and city council gave out 150 dollar parking tickets to a guy who parked his work vehicles near his house for years, 7 vehicles at a time and the guy finally got tired of it and killed 2 cops and 3 city council members and shot the mayor who is in critical condition, just goes to prove my theory, YOU SHOVE PEOPLE AROUND FOR LONG ENOUGH AND THEY'RE GONNA SHOVE BACK, you become a cop and decide to carry a gun you take the consequences.

I can promise you already, when they finish the investigation and have spend a million of Dollars on physical and mental evaluations all they will find out that he is a total normal (I would even say boring) guy who had just enough being fucking pushed around.
That will scare the shit out of them and serves these criminal cocksuckers right.
Any other day he may have just taken the ticket ripped it up and cursed them... today was just the day for him to go to war.
Come to think of it, this is for a long time the first time i see some guy shoot the "right" people, he didn't go to a cloth store to kill some pregnant mother ::) he didn't punk out he got right down there and showed them whats business.

I would consider this guy awesome if he had spared the killing (a not especially great punishment) and instead, robbed their houses to recouped his costs. Considering he clearly had a deathwish I believe the gumption to do just about anything would not be in question here. I definitely would have understood if he felt the need to cleanse his buttocks with the cool refreshing texture of an enemies' toothbrush.
That to me, is worthy of applause.

I agree with you that it's outrageous for the government and it's law enforcement agents to harass decent, hard-working citizens simply because they need to reach a certain quota dude (in this case, the amount of parking tickets handed out). But do you honestly think that the guy was right in shooting cops who were just following orders? Mind you, I'm not saying the cops were innocent cause we all know how some of them can be. I think it's tragic that all those lives were lost cause as someone pointed out, they all have families who must be feeling frustrated that it was all because of some damn parking tickets.
Looks like the situation is universal - even here in NZ, parking wardens are some of the most hated people of them all. They need to hand out a certain number of tickets a month to retain their job, which also, unfortunately, makes them totally indifferent to individual situations where giving out a ticket isn't necessary at all. It's damned if you do, damned if you won't :-\

Its just like the stories you hear about cops getting iced when they perform these military style raids on peoples homes because of some pot seeds found in their garbage. You cant smash into someones home unexpectedly and not expect some sort of retaliation from the person whos home is being raided. Its asking to get shot and then these "criminals" are given life sentences. Total abuse of power and resources.

It is my understanding that he shot cops who were in the council meeting. Meaning, the cops that enforced the tickets were not the ones punished. He may have known the cops in the council meeting as the article implies he was something of a serial pest in these things. It seems as if he specifically shot people who intimately involved in disallowing him from speaking at the meetings.
Which makes it mildly more righteous but totally stupid nonetheless.

I dont agree with shooting the police officers. Im sure they werent TOTAL pricks and warned him on numerous occasions before issuing citations. They did not deserve to be shot, especially because he was in the wrong. Dont blame a cop if YOU are wrong. I have a company truck that I parked in front of my house once. I got a 100 dollar ticket. Now I park it in the company lot and walk home. Oh no, it's a huge 5 minute inconvenience for me.
Most small towns do not allow business cars (labeled with logos) parked on residential streets. Saying they should've ticketed one van instead of all 7 is saying they should only put every 7th killer in jail and let the rest go.

Residential streets are not private property, they're "public" (i.e. city property). You can't just do whatever you want. If that were so, every company out there would park their company trucks, vans, semis on the street.
Cops are dickheads, we all know this. But as kiwiol said, they have to meet a quota or lose their job. their paycheck has to come from somewhere. This idiot and his 7 trucks are an easy way to make quota.
And as I believe goatboy once said, it's not the police's job to be our personal bodyguards. whoever said they should be "out preventing crime instead of hassling people", get your head out of your ass. they indirectly prevent crime by researching and finding offenders AFTER the crime's been committed and punishing them. you cannot ever pre emptively prevent a crime.

Here one for you guys. Happened back in the 60's I believe in the UK. This retired guy wants to build a house with his retirement money on a piece of property that he owed. According to the mayor the was somekind of town ordinance against building in that area. So anyway, the Mayor told the guy that nothing on that land could be built over 4 feet high. So this guys digs a whole and builds the house. The mayor waits till this poor guys gets done building it and then tells him that he was only kidding and that they are going to demolish it. So on that day the whole freakin town shows up and the media, the mayor and all the bull dosing equipment. Right on live TV the guys walks right up to the mayor, points his gun to the guys face and blows his head off.

I don't know what the parking restrictions were in his area, but it seems reasonable to me that each family would be allowed only 2-3 spaces on the street. Some cities require an inexpensive permit for on-street parking and limit the number each household may purchase each year.

I have sued numerous cops and PD's, and there are MORE than a few bad apples out there, and the bad apples can be JERKS to ANYONE, which is why they end up getting sued.
Don't try to cover for them, it is useless.

Another thing to remember, especialy here in CA, where cops, FF and prison guards make up to $200K per year in full compensation-these minimum educational requirement/GED/HS Educated jobs almost require you to have a "connection" to get hired-especially the FD.
Usually goes like this for hiring in all gov jobs, but especially FD;
1) Family
2) Friends
3) Military (big browny points)
4) Lawsuit consent decree for engaging in 1 and 2 above.

I don't know the people in this town but as a general rule, don't fuck up and you won't get in trouble. Don't want a ticket, don't speed. Don't want a parking ticket, carry enough change. Don't want a drug charge, don't use or sell. It's that simple.

Sure there are lousy cops out there.. However, most of them are just doing their job. Detering dangerous criminals and keep citizens safe.
Personally, I owe a lot to cops. NYC used to be a mess until they increased the number of police. None have ever given me a hard time because I don't mind showing a driver's license, which btw only takes about a minute. But you guys seem to think that getting busted for parking in a handicapped spot or getting a request to show a valid license is a serious breach of civil rights. ;D

Government workers also suck our tax money. They have tons of job safety, and a lot of them are hired via affirmative action and quotas. Most of them do a lousy job for serving the public. I mean I had to go to the DMV to request a new license after turning 21 to get the under 21 thing removed, and I had to deal with this bitchy ass black lady who didn't even bother adressing anyone formally and was talking on her cellphone.
Only government workers I like are law enforcement and firefighters.

Obviously some cops abuse their power, but much of it is for good use. Take where I live for example, if the blacks decide to try to cross 8 mile they have all the way to 9 mile to remind themselves to turn their asses back around, once they hit 10 mile they are going to jail or gonna get their asses kicked. Sure they didn't do anything(this time), but if the cops didn't do that then the good harding working white folk would be robbed and murdered everyday. If people don't like parking tickets, that's an issue to take up with your local government. Domestic violence is a real issue. It sucks when the police called because your wife or gf is screaming her ass off but just make sure you don't hit her and you aren't yelling. You'll get shit and dirty looks but as long as you didn't put marks on her you're fine.
I don't view laws that protect me as intrusive. Parking tickets and moving violations don't upset me because I don't violate those laws. When you see a bad TC where a guy was going 20 over the speed limit and/or driving drunk, you realize once again why the laws are in place.
Abuse of power is wrong but actual abuse and perceived abuse are two different things. Most in my age group think being busted for DUIs, drunk in public, drug possession and tickets are the greatest travesty on earth. These are little things that are avoidable. When a 21 year old woman gets OC sprayed for no reason or a college kid has a drop pistol planted in his car to secure an arrest then they can come talk to me.

I cant get into all the things I have gone to war over...but I will tell you the BEST one.
Involved a traffic cop who thought he was the shit-wrote a ticket for wearing a setbelt the wrong way and started getting mouthy-then there were a few harsh words traded back and forth and the cop decided he was going to tow the car-which he did.
Long story short-filed a federal lawsuit-number of claims-tied the cop up in civil court for 2 years and ran the City's legal bill up to $200K.
Didnt win, but the goal was never to win (although it is always nice), it is to cause financial pain, hardship and in general be a pain on the ass. The City could have bought 10 new cop cars, repaved 100 streets, or done a host of other things with that money. But instead it was wasted because they had a stupid cop being a jerk-and then had the tables flipped on them.
The cop and the City were livid, and they kept saying "He's making a federal case out of a seat belt ticket".....lol....... fucking great case.
If you get a baton up the ass, or anywhere else, that is a major case-assuming you were not fighting the cop.

You were the asshole, within that time and effort, a real case could have been tried and adjudicated. You tied up the case with some "It's the principle" bullshit. Tat is one of the reason's why the saying, "The wheels of justice move Slow" is true. For every case that needs to be tried, there are 10 bullshit cases that clog up the court systems time and money.

I can see why you lost. As for the traffic stop, how did he get mouthy? What did he say? What did you say? I think there is more to the story. Perhaps your reaction dictated his. He needs to be professional at all times but he can certainly be more curt with you if you are a jerk. What was his reason for towing the car?
Last question before your response, do you feel that you should be able to kill this officer because you got "pushed around"? You can screw an officer's career by just giving them enough complaints. You don't need to kill them to kill them.
