He is only squatting double his own bw, Not very impressive imo.
-
Pretty good. Shit deadlift though

The kid is natural.
He competes in IPF and Norway have some of the best testing organisations in the world.
So for him to do those kind of weights at that age - it's very impressive.
IMO, it will take a natural SHW a very long time to fill out and get a solid base.
Mid- to late 30's is normally when they peak IMO.
-
These guys are going to go very far! I'm blown away to be honest, you didn't see these kind of numbers just a few years ago from kids that young. Friggin awesome. Sometimes I really feel like bbing doesn't hold a candle to that shit, honestly.

405 raw gym lift (that i doubt you're telling the truth about) != 513 single-ply bench in a meet. i hate to shatter your image of yourself, but the kid is stronger than you claim to have been. :)

i never said how many times i did it, besides what is the point arguing over it only i know between the 2 of us what is the truth so why bother. Just because people lie doesnt mean ALL people lie, dont be such a cynic, just go with the flow you will be much happier
-
With specific tricep work you could add 100lbs to your bench press in a rage X.
Not impossible but benching in a shirt isnt easy

you're the one making the hilarious claim that an 18 year old hitting 513 in an IPF approved shirt isn't impressive, fella. :)

ahahaha, dude, his bench (like his squat, deadlift, and total) is a sub-junior world record. http://records.powerlifting.org/world/?lan=en&gender=M&age=sjun
125+kg Carl Yngvar Cristensen 1990 NOR 146.75 233.5 16.11.2008 Sandnes NOR
apparently you're claiming that you were as strong as the strongest sub-junior in IPF history?? care to modify your statement? ;D ;D ;D

you said this:
very strong, but 513 with a bench shirt... not very impressive but everything else very good.
that "513 in a bench shirt" is currently a world record in the IPF sub-junior 125+kg class. once again:
125+kg Carl Yngvar Cristensen 1990 NOR 146.75 233.5 16.11.2008 Sandnes NOR
meaning, in the 125+kg class, Carl Yngvar Cristensen, who was born in 1990 in Norway, weighed 146.75kg/322lb and bench pressed 233.5kg/513lb on november 16th, 2008 during a meet in Sandnes, Norway. so... you basically said a world record lift was "not very impressive". ;)
admittedly a lifter in the class below beat his bench, but cristensen's squat and deadlift were much higher as he still has the biggest total.
-
Someone remembers what Coach claims he benchpressed @ 16 years of age and weighing 165?
:D

sorry buddy im just used to being around stronger people than that, my buddy pulled 835 as a junior he was 19 yrs old now that is strong. Not saying the kid is not strong but just not impressed

Not trying to turn this into some kind of non tested vs tested fed argument, but were your buddy natural or juicing when pulling that weight?
If he was natural, he's probably the greatest deadlifting talent ever.
-
I believe Joe claimed to bench 525 at 18 and 180 pounds.

kyle gulledge is his name and if you ask me he could of been on of the best deadlifters of all time had he stuck with it. Natural or not i dont know either way it was awesome. you can youtube it i think that pull is still up

I have followed this kid since he started training in August 2005.
Here is a couple of quotes from his first sessions in the gym:
12.08
Situps: 40x2 + 10 kg
Skulderpress: 11x3 16 kg per hantel
Fronthev: 10x3 7.5 kg per hantel
Shrugs med stang: 20x3 57 kg
Biceps curl med stang: 10x3 32 kg
Biceps curl med stang ovendt grep: 10x3 21 kg
Underarms curl: 10x3 16 kg
and
15.08
Mage, bryst og triceps
Situps: 40x2 + 10 kg
Oppvarming: starter alltid med litt lette vekter
Benkpress: 3x8 67 kg
Hantelpress: 3x8 26 kg per hantel
Franskpress: 3x10 31 kg
Stående enarms extensions: 3x8 7 kg
In this his second training, he benched 67 kilos for 8 reps.
3 years later he gets 7 world records in one meet. (2 squat, 1 bench, 3 deadlift and 1 total)
I can vouch for him beeing drug free and a true freak! He is 6'1 and 330 lbs. I have competed against him in strongman, in seasons 06 and 07. in 07 i barely beat him. (I started training when he was born)
This year he came 5th in Norways Strongest Man (held by Svend Karlsen), and then did this meet in IPF powerlifting.
More can be read in his traning log since day one: http://www.treningsforum.no/forum/index.php?topic=28947.0

...you're used to being around people stronger than the kid who holds EVERY SINGLE IPF SUB-JUNIOR SUPERHEAVY RECORD.
hedge, help me out here, you're a big supporter of the IPF side of things. apparently this guy is saying that the strongest IPF sub-junior superheavy is mediocre at best compared to other lifters. because lord knows siders wasn't kicking ass an taking names at NERB.
and kyle gulledge? no offense, but you're talking untested, a few years older, and a completely different pull. 835 is disgusting weight and kyle's a monster, but you can't compare a suited sumo pull to a conventional pull in the IPF where the suit might give you 30 pounds on a good day.

Actually, the suit isn't different between feds in the deadlift, at least it won't do any lifter much good to try using a canvas.
You need the stretch IMO.
The only difference may have been whether this Kyle was on the juice or not.
Because everything else is, IMO, pretty much the same.
This Norwegian kid is a total freak, no way should we call him average or not impressive.
But of course brent's friend is a beast as well.
-
I believe Joe claimed to bench 525 at 18 and 180 pounds.
I think the best benchpresser in the world @198, Dennis Cieri, has an incredible RAW personal best at around 550?
Cieri is around 40 and has been training his whole life.
Bring in the 18 year old 180 lbs'er.8)

im not disputing wether the kid is a beast or not, all i said was his "bench" was not that impressive to me. I give all the credit were it is due and im a huge fan of powerlifting and i love the fact that we have all these juniors that are putting up huge weight, it should be fun to watch for years to come. That being said i just don't think its all that impressive especially at 330lbs but hey he is still a beast and probably will impress me in the not to distant future.
-
Now I finally get what your point is (I'm being a little thick).
I actually agree somewhat on the benchpress thing.
Considering what a freak the kid is - yes, the bench is lagging.
His bench 'should' be high 500's for him to be matching his squat number in the bench.
Right now his squat is better, and he looks like he will squat 800 any day from what I've seen in clips.
-
i agree his bench isn't "as freakish" as his squat and pull (i call it the Ed Coan Effect), but brent here is saying he's not that impressive in general. i'm sorry that four world records set in a single meet doesn't impress you. ::)
-
7 world records in one meet. (2 squat, 1 bench, 3 deadlift and 1 total)
His first deadlift was 20 kg's above the WR. His third was 47,5 kg's over the old WR.
-

well, granted, but i mean in the end there's only four actually on the books, one for each of the lifts and the total. when you break a record twice in a meet i only count it once, y'know?
-
Ofcourse, but he both broke the past record and moved his own several times. :)
4 new records to the lists, but he set seven during the meet. :)
-
That is some great powerlifting. He has a great future. If he remains uninjured, he could go on to much bigger lifts

Nah, dude its how you wrote your reply. I read it and thought you were some typical GetBig knowitall shitwiper and figured it wasn't worth even thinking about posting anything because you were going to make up shit no matter what.
The bottom line for anyone whos into powerlifting is the guy is a multiple world record holder. I don't give a crap what someone does in the gym, its whats done on the platform that matters.
